2 theLambda Letter t he Lambda Chapter has had a very successful spring semester. We were proud to conduct another successful recruitment season with 13 young men signing their bids and beginning their Sigma Chi journey. We have continued to improve our pledgeship program through the direct integration of our ritual team, better utilization of our scholarship team, and leadership from a record number of seniors who decided to live in the Chapter House this year. Led by Magister spencer hays '15, these young men have already shown tremendous growth in character. If you would be interested in attending the initiation ceremony or partaking in I-Week activities this spring, please contact Ritual Chairman max french '16 at max.french@me.com. We are very excited to express our continued support for our bike team as we move into Little 500 season. The men's race will take place on Saturday, April 26. As always, we heavily encourage alumni involvement and support for the bike team. If you have time to travel to Bloomington for the big race, or any other time, we would love for you to stop by the Chapter House. Our most successful philanthropic efforts are held in the spring semester. We have already recognized the most successful Frat Classic hockey game vs. Beta Theta Pi to date, by not only winning the game, but also raising $35,000 for the American Brain Tumor Association. Hockey team member, Philanthropy Chairman, and Dropping the Puck on Cancer Co-President nico d'antonio '15 will discuss these successes further in the newsletter. The Lambda Chapter is hoping to realize the same success in our upcoming annual Derby Days. If you would like to make a donation, please contact Nico at nicolaus.dantonio@gmail.com. Quinn believed that a fraternity would provide the perfect balance between social and campus involvement. While pursuing a degree in business economics and public policy from the Kelley School of Business, he has stayed involved with the Chapter leadership by serving as the risk chairman and is a member on the Little 500 bike team. "Every organization requires leadership, and Sigma Chi has shown me the importance of this. The Chapter has taught me that leadership comes in many forms; however, I believe a true leader must motivate others. A leader will use his motivation to inspire others to attain a level of greatness that they did not believe was possible. A leader must also act as a resource and a friend. Leadership is the most important quality a man can acquire and it is something that will lead to success in every facet of one's life. In the words of General George S. Patton, 'Lead me, follow me, or get the hell out of my way.' "Sigma Chi has given me experiences that would not have been possible without the Fraternity. The Chapter has shown me the benefits of giving back to something that is greater than myself." Flaherty & Collins Properties has been in the top 50 multifamily developer firms nationally for the last eight years and employs more than 400 people. David's advice to the undergraduate brothers is to stay close to Sigma Chis. "The friendships you develop in the Fraternity are the most loyal in your life. Continue on with those relationships beyond college." David is able to visit the Chapter House at least once a year, and he enjoys seeing undergraduates who are legacies of brothers from David's era. He was able to hire an undergraduate as an intern last year. Because the Fraternity meant so much to David, it was an easy choice to stay involved with the Chapter and to give back financially. David and his wife, Lindsey, live in Indianapolis, Indiana. They have two sons, and David is hopeful that his youngest will go through recruitment at IU next fall.
