Box 1688 Auburn, AL 36830 Address Service Requested Generally SPEaking alabama alpha arChives Silver Tray Donated by Peggy Barrow O ne of the many artifacts in the fraternity archives is a silver plated tray, about 22 inches by 13 inches, which is engraved "Love to my boys, Peggy Barrow, Queen of Hearts, 1954." The tray has been donated to the Auburn Archives as part of the Alabama Alpha collection. Peggy married Bob Culbertson in 1955. The couple have four children, 11 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Peggy was Alabama Alpha's Queen of Hearts her junior year at Auburn and has fond memories of the fraternity, including attending formal with byrd farmer '54, former Alabama Alpha president. Peggy was recognized as Charlotte Woman of the Year in 2007, has a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Charlotte Girl Scouts, was the first woman to chair the Charlotte-Mecklenburg County Planning Commission, and was the founder of the North Carolina Committee of the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C. She is the author of the book, Southern Sampler. The 2005 book was reviewed as a "heartfelt book on Southern women of courage." Peggy lives in Charlotte, North Carolina. At the age of 91, Clyde still remembers the wonderful college days at Auburn and at the SPE house. John r. carden '49 hopes to attend the Auburn reunion in April to receive his 65-year graduation year pin. John and his wife, Suzanne, live in Melbourne, Fla. robert W. harrison Jr. '55 lives in Viera, Fla., with his wife, Dorothy. Sandy recalls one of his memories of the SipEp house: "Walking into the living room and discovering a random fire inspection of the house had discovered homebrew in the basement. The homebrew was being made by me and Jacob, our cook. Nothing happened except we had to get rid of the brew!" James e. edgar '71 and his wife, Paula, enjoy retirement by traveling and spending time with their three grandchildren. James was recently inducted in the Dunwoody High School Hall of Fame.
