"The SigEps I met during recruitment all cared about each other and served in many different student organizations and were leaders on campus." Since graduating, Hunter has served on the Alumni Board and become the coordinator of the Brian Little scholarship fund. When asked why he decided to take this position on Hunter stated, "brian little '95 was a dear friend and brother to so many of us. Our first child passed away when he was two months old and I understood a bit about what Kathy and Danny were going through when they lost Brian. When you are a parent and you lose your only child, there is a void created that will never be completely filled. It was, and is, comforting to know that people remember your child and that even though your child may no longer be in this world, they still have an impact on this world. I wanted the Littles to know how much Brian meant to so many of us and the influence he had and continues to have on our lives will always be a part of who we are. It is not something I do or did alone. tim nama '96, auston shaw '97, emory osgood '94, rob Williamson '95, and many others have all been integrally involved in starting this project and continuing to help coordinate it each year." Hunter and all involved in the project hope to bring old friends together each year in Brian's memory. The money raised for the scholarship goes to support selected students originally from the panhandle of Florida that are studying engineering at Auburn. He wants Brian's life to have an impact on those not fortunate enough to meet him and the scholarship has been doing that for the past six years. Hunter also sees the importance of the scholarship to continue the relationship between alumni and undergraduates, which he admits has never been consistently strong but urges both alumni and undergraduates to change this pattern. "The connection between the two groups is important," he says. Hunter would love to see his Alabama Alpha brothers at the annual Brian Little Memorial Golf Tournament. The event takes place at the same time each year, the Friday prior to the Auburn vs. Georgia game. If the game is in Athens, the golf tournament is northeast of Atlanta. If the game is in Auburn, the tournament is in Auburn. Even if you are not a golfer Hunter invites you to come to the tournament and just reconnect. "If you can't make it happen with your schedule, please consider making a generous donation online through the college of engineering, http://fp.auburn.edu/giving/Default.aspx?allocation=300068430, and make sure the gift designation is Brian D. Little Memorial Endowment." Hunter works for Insurance Office of America to provide businesses with risk management services, insurance, and bonding. He lives in Mountain Brook, Alabama, with his wife, Angel, and children; Lawson (passed away in 2003), Holland (8), Anne Lawson (8), Wells (8), and Fletcher (4). In his free time he enjoys fly-fishing, golf, Auburn football, and coaching his kids in sports.
