Our Vice President of Membership Development has been working to come up with new ways to promote academics in our chapter. She gives room points to any New Members who attend study hours that we hold twice a week at the house and on campus. We also have the "Pi Society" where members with a GPA of 3.2 or higher have a special pie des- sert party. So many of our New Members have extremely high academics, one receiving the highest grade on a mid- term in a 500-person lecture hall. With our amazing New Members and the work of our executive board we can make vast academic improvements. PhiLAnthroPiC FoCus Every year our chapter participates in the annual Polar Plunge, which benefits Special Olympics. This year our chapter raised $4,028, the most money out of any group from CU. We also won the University Cup award from the organization. We had a Valentine's Day sisterhood in which we were able to incorporate some philanthropic service by making valentines and donating them to a local children's hospital. We had Fraternity Day of Service at the beginning of March. The day was spent at the Family Learning Center in South Boulder to make bookmarks for the children there with our wonderful alumnae! We are currently preparing for our annual philanthropic event, Pi Burger Phri, which will be held at our house, Thursday, May 6, from 4 to 6 p.m. We have burgers, fries, a DJ and you can pie a Pi Phi for just one dollar. membershiP uPdAte At the University of Colorado at Boulder, we only have formal recruitment in the fall, so we did not receive a New Member class for this spring semester. However, we were lucky enough to gain three wonderful transfers, two fresh- men from the University of Arizona and one sophomore from Colorado Springs. They have been wonderful addi- tions to our chapter. We recently had our first recruitment practice where the newly initiated members started learn- ing some songs for fall recruitment. Two more practices are scheduled before summer where girls will learn more songs, dances and have conversation workshops. We also have a membership selection workshop coming up this month, for girls to better understand the voting process. greek reLAtions We found out our Greek Week partners this year are Phi Kappa Psi and Alpha Epsilon Pi. We are looking forward to start working with them as we practice for sorority football, fraternity football, volleyball tournaments, field day events and a large dance routine known as Songfest, which concludes the week. I recently had the privilege of attending the Pi Phi Leadership Academy in St. Louis with one of our emerging leaders, Lindsey Huttrer '13, as well as two of our AAC members. We had workshops all weekend long that taught us how to run a more efficient chapter, as well as how to improve our leadership skills. We got to meet sisters from across the nation, even some internationally. It was an amazing experience to see how many women our organization has touched. We are proud to announce that the newest Panhellenic President for the 2014-15 year is one of our very own, Danielle Dorr '12. There has not been a Pi Phi presi- dent for Panhellenic for years here at Boulder so we are extremely proud to have her representing the entire Greek community. She is a phenomenal woman and we know she is going to do amazing things as she guides our community throughout the year. We have some exciting things to look forward to this year. My executive board and I are so honored to be leading the chapter and look forward to making some improvements. Thank you all for your constant support and please stop by the beautiful Beta whenever you can! Pi Phi love always. Loyally, Sara Bergmark '12 Chapter President sbergmark@cox.net 5
