W ith the arrival of spring 2014 the Delta Kappa Chapter has turned the corner to becoming one of the largest and best chapters at OU. I am extremely proud of the steps we have taken to become a top chapter and the future that we have at the University of Oklahoma. In January we initiated 36 new members and signed 14 new pledges, bringing our total membership to 147, the highest it has ever been since our rechartering and 30 higher than the IFC average. Delta Kappa's membership also has shown an academic improvement over the last year. Our fall GPA was 3.017, 8th overall of 19. Our fall pledges recorded a 2.92 GPA and came in 5th among new members. Delta Kappa is also implementing new scholarship requirements for new members to raise our academic performance even more in the future. Results from Delta Kappa's newest philanthropic event, the ATW 5K and Spooky Sprint were incredible. Delta Kappa raised $6,339 for the Community After-School Program (CASP) of Norman and contributed 845 hours of community service to this local nonprofit. The run included over 100 participants, a great turnout for the 5K's inaugural year. We hope to see this event grow bigger in the future and to donate even more money and service to CASP. For future campus activities, Delta Kappa is excited to announce that we have paired with Pi Beta Phi for University Sing 2014, Kappa Alpha Theta for Big Event this spring, and Gamma Phi Beta for Homecoming 2014. This April we are proud to announce that Delta Kappa will be hosting our first Founders Day. This event will be held on the weekend of April 12th and will include a tailgate for the OU spring game at the newly completed chapter house at 1310 College Avenue. The weekend will also include other activities that are currently being planned by our founders day chairman, alumni relations chairman and housing corporation president. We look forward to seeing a great alumni turnout at this event. We are looking forward to the best year for Delta Kappa and leaving our mark on the University of Oklahoma campus. I am always available to contact if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. Fraternally, William O.
