2A – Daily News – Tuesday, March 22, 2011 Community people&events Scholarships for ag students The Dairyville Community Club announces scholarships available for the 2011/2012 academic school year. Students are eligible if they graduated from a Tehama County high school and are majoring in an agricultural field. Students can apply their sophomore and junior years. Appli- cations will be accepted from students pursuing graduate degrees in ag programs. This year the club has committed $14,000 to its scholar- ship programs. The funds for these scholarships are derived from the success of the Dairyville Orchard Festival, private and business donations, and the Dairyville Memorial Fund. Applications for the Agricultural Studies Scholarships are available online at dairyvillefestival.org. Completed applications must be returned by mail, postmarked on or before April 8. Diabetes Support Group A Diabetes Support Group meets from 1 to 2 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month at the Family Resource Center, 1488 South Street, in Corning. The group is made possible by a grant from the Corning Healthcare District and supported by Northern Valley Catholic Social Service. For more information call 824-7670. Ladies Auxiliaries fundraiser The Ladies Auxiliaries of the American Legion Mount Lassen Post No. 167 and Jim Kennedy Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1932 are holding a commu- nity sale, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., March 26 and 27, inside the Veterans Memorial Hall, at 735 Oak St., in Red Bluff. The Auxiliaries are renting tables, as many as need- ed, for $10 each for one-day participation, or $15 for two days. They invite yard salers, crafters, vendors or organizations to join the sale. Vendors will be able to set up between 3 and 8 p.m., Friday, March 25. A snack bar will be available both days. In medium skillet, combine first five ingredients; brown well. Separate crescent dough as package directs; cut in half. Place spoonful of mixture in center of each triangle; fold over and seal edges. Place on ungreased cookie sheet; bake 15 minutes or until golden. He has been recognized through various awards including Young Farmer of the Year and Most Valuable Player. He was honored with an FFA state degree, which is given only to the top members of a State FFA Association. On Tuesday, March 8, the Red Bluff Rotary Club presented Whet- stone with a plaque, a let- ter acknowledging him as the Rotary Student of the Month and a check for $50.
