By Rich Greene rgreene@redbluffdailynews.com @richgreenenews on Twitter Red Bluff » The Tehama County Board of Supervisors will discuss and possibly decide Tuesday which of two potential sites they prefer to be the loca - tion of the new County Library's main Red Bluff branch. The board will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. today at the Board Chambers, 727 Oak St. Narrowed from an initial list of 43 sites, the final two locations being considered offer contrast - ing positives and constraints. One of the locations would be at 1015 Kimball Road next door to the Red Bluff Community and Senior Center. The site offers synergy with other government facilities, residential neighborhoods and schools and would cost an esti - mated $4 million for construc- tion. The second site at 1106 Main St. in downtown Red Bluff off the corner of Union Street would cost nearly $2 million more to build and have higher ongoing operational costs, be - cause it would be a two-story building. However, the site offers views of the Sacramento River and Lassen Peak. The board has received at least five letters of support from various organizations in favor of one site or another. Groups aligned with the li - brary favor the Kimball Road location, while other organiza- tions see the downtown site as a once in a lifetime opportunity to build an iconic building. In their letters to the board both the Tehama County Friends of the Library and Friends of the Los Molinos Li - brary voiced concern regarding the additional costs the down- town site would have. Potential candidates had un - til Friday to declare and submit their paperwork to qualify for the ballot. The deadlines for the Clerk & Recorder and Superintendent of Schools were extended until 5 p.m. Wednesday because the in - cumbent didn't file for either po- sition. Barring a write-in candidate, Sheriff Dave Hencratt will have another four years in office. He will run unopposed four years af - ter squeaking by incumbent Clay Parker to earn his first term. State of Write-In Candidacy and Nomination Papers can be submitted April 7 through May 20. "Running unopposed is a huge relief to me," Hencratt said. "Our office can now remain 110 percent focused on our work and the proj - ects we are trying to accomplish. I am honored to be serving my community as your sheriff and look forward to the challenges ahead." Other incumbents running un - opposed include Auditor-Control- ler LeRoy Anderson, Assessor Dale Stroud and Treasurer-Tax Collector Dana Hollmer. Tehama County voters will weigh in on three county-wide ballot measures and represen - tatives for the State Senate and Assembly. Measure A is a non-binding ballot advisory measure asking voters whether they support Te - hama County joining the State of Jefferson movement to with- drawal from the rest of Califor- nia. Measure B would raise the salaries of the Tehama County Board of Supervisors, the lowest paid in the state. Measure C would change the county charter to allow for the Board of Supervisors to appoint its own replacements when va - cancies occur on the board. The governor has this power under the existing setup.
