www.cityoffayetteville.org Dogwood Festival Hosts Ready to Open a Business Downtown? Do you have a passion that you want to see turned into a storefront or a dream of owning your own business? Well, the opportunity you have waited for is here. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, April 13 for the second annual Small Business Expo from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Arts Council building at 301 Hay St. We have lined up a fantastic expo for you, including all of the local small business resources willing to help you get started, including CEED (formerly known as the Women’s Center), the Fayetteville-Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce, the Fayetteville Business Center and more. They will have all available programs and classes ready to get you started or answer those important questions needed for your business plan. Afterwards, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., property owners will be opening up some downtown properties that are available for sale or lease, so that you can plan more for your business. This is your perfect chance to scout vacant spaces for your new venture. Maps for available properties will be available at the Small Business Expo. For more information or to RSVP to this event, please contact Jami McLaughlin at 433-1599 or Michelle Haire at 433-1596. Fayetteville After Five The Fayetteville Dogwood Festival staff and volunteers have added yet another event to their busy year by taking over Fayetteville After Five, our favorite free summer concert series. More information on bands is forthcoming, but for now, keep those third Thursdays of every month from May to September open so you can join thousands of your friends at Festival Park to enjoy the sights and sounds of summer! Business Spotlight The Rock Shop Music Hall, located at 128 S. King St., is branded as Fayetteville’s premier live event venue and looking at their schedule and attendance at shows, they have a bright future in downtown Fayetteville. Owner Shawn Adkins has a knack for bringing in large entertainment acts such as Deftones, Vanilla Ice, Saliva, Hulk Hogan and Hawthorne Heights; however, the Rock Shop also showcases a wide variety of local talent with music ranging over several genres. The venue is also available for private events. The Rock Shop is open Monday through Sunday from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Visit www.therockshoplive.com Facebook at www.facebook.com/therockshoplive.
