The
lion's lore
I
am pleased to report that the 100th
anniversary weekend, October 18-19,
2013, was a tremendous success.
More than 150 attended the Friday evening
welcome reception at the KSU Alumni
Center, reconnecting with friends and
brothers and meeting the members of the
active chapter.
Coach Bill Snyder was the featured speaker to
a group of more than 200 during the Saturday
luncheon at the KSU football stadium. Tours
of the new football and basketball facilities
followed.
Alumni enjoyed tours of the chapter house
throughout the weekend. Over and over I
heard favorable remarks about the condition
of the house and grounds–many saying that it
was the best the chapter house has looked in
40 years. A special thanks to Bill Shaw '75,
John Hatfield '77, and the active chapter for
their hard work and preparation!
More than 300 attended the Saturday evening
dinner and dance. We were pleased to have
Blaine Ayers '01, eminent supreme recorder,
Jeff Hall '07, Province Zeta regional director
from SAE National, Mike Kimberlin '01,
Province Zeta archon, General Dick Myers
'65, Kansas Beta Foundation and Centennial
Campaign chairman, and Dr. Pat Bosco, vice
president of Student Life
at KSU, in attendance.
Charlie Chandler '75 and
Terry Garvert '77 served
as eminent song leaders.
Guests received certificates
commemorating their
initiation and copies of
the original installation
banquet program from
1913 as mementos of the 100th anniversary
celebration. A special thanks to Linda
Morgan and Jan Shaw for help with the
memorabilia. For more information and
photos, go to www.ksusae.com.
We were pleased with the tremendous alumni
and active chapter support in celebrating
100 years of Sigma Alpha Epsilon—the first
national fraternity at Kansas State University.
Yours in the bonds,
Steve Lacy '76, '77
