Gamma Tau Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity at Drake University ~ Spring 2014 A Testament to Our Past, A Legacy for Our Future A Testament to Our Past, A Legacy for Our Future Campaign Surpasses $1.5 Million Project Timeline Will Remain on Schedule with Your Help J anuary was a very busy month for campaign volunteers. In preparation for our financing meeting, we set out to bring our total dollars raised to $1.4 million. Call nights were organized at campaign leaders' homes where brothers made numerous phone calls to alumni, asking them to help us reach this important goal by either increasing their gift or making a first-time pledge. Our hard work paid off with many brothers committing to first-time gifts or extending their pledge a sixth year. However, our big break came when Al Kopec '79 and his wife, Jacque, offered to match all new gifts or pledge increases dollar for dollar up to $50,000. Brother Kopec doubled his original commitment to extend this opportunity to our alumni; and I am extremely grateful for his generous support. Under normal circumstances, challenges like this can take many weeks or even months to reach goal. However, there is nothing normal about what's going on with the brotherhood of Gamma Tau! Our goal to reach $1.4 million by the end of January was no small task. Amazingly, only two weeks after our challenge was announced, we met the $50,000 Kopec Challenge and raised an additional $130,000, bringing our total to $1,517,720! We now have 242 individual donors representing 31% of our active alumni. Countless brothers and daughters have stepped up with their first pledge, dozens increased their commitment to six years, and some of you actually doubled your pledge! We are more than 3/4 of the way to our campaign goal of $1,856,000. We must work to achieve it in order to further reduce the amount of debt the undergraduate chapter will acquire with the new Chapter House. If you have not made a gift yet to the campaign for Gamma Tau Chapter, I ask you to do so today. Imagine the amazing sense of pride you will feel upon your return to campus knowing that you helped to build the new house and the future of Theta Chi Fraternity at Drake University. Better still, make sure everyone else knows you helped by securing your place on the donor plaque with a five or six year commitment of $2,500 or more. If you have already contributed, you can help by making an early pledge payment, increasing your gift, or by contacting brothers who have yet to give and asking them to join you on our donors list. I know that together, we can achieve this goal. Love and Respect, Tom Rossley '82 Co-Chairman (773) 275-1111 tom@rossley.com Brothers from the 1940s to today share in the bonds of Theta Chi. Consider the legacy your gift can create as generations of men make their way through this home. 1949 1966 1978 2014 QC Donate Online Visit www.drakethetachi.org to support A Testament to Our Past, A Legacy for Our Future today.
