Kappa Kappa Gamma 3 Epsilon Beta Succeeds in Recruitment, Academics, and Philanthropy Chapter Officers Kappas Earn Award for Top GPA The Epsilon Beta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma has always held itself to a high academic standard. With the award of top grade point average on the Colorado State University campus for two consecutive semesters, active members strive to continue in their successful academic endeavors. With each new class, the chapter has gained intelligent and dedicated women who will only help elevate the chapter as a whole. The strict upholding of study hours and the intense support of the women helps each member maintain a strong grade point average throughout her college career. Every sister puts academic excellence on a top shelf of priority, tied with those of sisterhood and loyalty. The chapter hopes to receive the top GPA award for a third-consecutive semester. It is likely that the women will do so, based on their dedication and academic success. The women of Epsilon Beta will not accept anything less than academic accomplishment, individually and collectively. With the support of her sisters around her, every member will succeed. Fall Philanthropy Events Kappa Kappa Gamma hosted two philanthropy events last semester, Chili Con Kappa and the Kappa Kick Off. The Chili Con Kappa fall philanthropy event was a great experience overall. Despite bad weather, we had an amazing turnout from the Fort Collins community as a whole, not just those involved in Greek life. Thanks to Kappa's growing membership numbers, we were able to take two shifts throughout the evening. Kappa Kappa Gamma had pots upon pots of chili donated from members and people in the surrounding communities which, when set up, took up almost the entire first floor of our house. Chili Con Kappa provided a great opportunity, not only to build Epsilon Beta sisterhood bonds, but also to build friendships throughout CSU Greek life and the Fort Collins community. In September, Epsilon Beta had its last philanthropy event of the semester, Kappa Kickoff, a fun tailgate event. Students, families, and alumni used this opportunity eat, listen to music, and enjoy the CSU football game against Boise State. In addition to the donations from Noodles & Company and Starbucks, all entry fees and donations from the event were given to Angel Flight, a non-profit organization that gives medical patients free flights to where they need to go in order to receive medical attention. Angel Flight has struck a personal chord with the Epsilon Beta chapter, after learning that one of our sisters has a 14-year-old cousin in need of a liver transplant who could not afford the transportation to get the medical attention she needed. Our chapter was so touched by the idea of Angel Flight after one of our own sister's family members needed it, that we decided that we needed to help. The philanthropy event raised $2,500 for Angel Flight. We are grateful for the support of Rams fans, students, and alumni who came together through a fun and exciting event to raise money for such a great cause. Recruitment Success Last semester, fall recruitment was held from Friday through Sunday in early September. Active members of Epsilon Beta spent the week before school started in early August preparing for recruitment. During this week Membership Chairman Jessica Johnson '10 planned and implemented various workshops explaining the recruitment process, voting process, and the values that members should be looking for in the potential new members. We were very fortunate to be able to recruit this past fall, and our chapter was avid in making sure that every member knew the importance of recruiting women with exceptional values. Epsilon Beta was also lucky enough to have Headquarters send a leadership consultant, Madison Taylor, the previous membership chairman at University of Arkansas, to assist during our recruitment process. Epsilon Beta ended up with 47 new members and we are so excited for them to experience the treasures of Kappa Kappa Gamma.
