Pi Kappa Alpha U.T. Dedicates New Moody College of Communications   Galveston's Moody Foundation Makes $50 Million Gift for Expanded Faculty Programs, Graduate Student Recruitment N Texas Pike communications students Alex Kitterman '10 and Scott Englar '11 celebrated the dedication of the newly named U.T.-Austin Moody College of Communications with Ross Moody '81. umerous brothers from Beta Mu studying communications were on hand November 7 to celebrate the transformative $50 million gift of the Moody Foundation to U.T. to christen the newly renamed Moody College of Communication. Ross Moody '81, a trustee of the Moody Foundation of Galveston, represented his family in the dedication ceremony at Walter Cronkite Plaza on campus. The 70-year-old Moody Foundation is one of the state's largest charitable foundations, making grants wholly within Texas. In addition to his work with the family foundation, Brother Moody is president and COO of the publicly traded, Austin-based National Western Life Insurance Co. His fraternity membership was an important part of his life and his commitment to the University of Texas was lifelong, not only as a student, but also serving on faculty for over 40 years. He received the Jack G. Taylor Award for Excellence in Teaching and an Endowed Chair in Business Communications in U.T.'s College of Business Administration. He was instrumental in founding the nation-wide American Business Communication Association for which he served as president. He retired from U.T. as the Texas Commerce Bancshares Centennial professor emeritus in business communication. William was a resident of Austin, Texas. Keith Warren Cecil III '81 entered Chapter Eternal on October 10, 2013, in Dallas due to complications of heart disease. He earned a business degree from U.T. in 1985 and worked in several business sectors during his career: banking, real estate, telecom and the auction brokerage business. Keith enjoyed hunting, auctions and, in the twilight of his life, was becoming an artist. Keith is remembered by his Pike brothers as being fun loving, gregarious and possessing a terrific sense of humor. Keith is survived by two daughters, Brooke and Caroline, as well as his mother and brother. He was a resident of Dallas, Texas. Jeffery S. Howden '83 entered Chapter Eternal after suffering a heart attack during a business trip on September 19, 2013, in Baltimore, Md. He was raised in a military family, living in a number of postings around the world but spent most of his high school years in Austin, and recently resided in San Antonio. Jeff was initiated into Beta Mu in 1983 and earned a geographic information systems degree from Texas State University. He was employed as a technology consultant and was a member of the Texas Army National Guard and the Air Force Reserve. He will be remembered as cheerful and kind. Jeff is survived by his mother, Anita Howden, of San Antonio, and brothers, James, John and Robert Howden '80. 7 www.texaspikes.com
