CHI OMEGA 3 Mu Chapter Welcomes 42 New Members Undergraduates Focus on Academics and Philanthropy ver the past few months, Mu Chapter has been in a transitional period as we said goodbye to 35 amazing seniors in May and welcomed 42 wonderful new members in September.  O Mu is represented by eight Cal Spirit team members. Junior Dominique Turcotte and Seniors Sheila Ghammadi and Shirin Khoramian share a Sisterhood moment at the Chi Omega House. CHAPTER IMPROVES GPA TO 3.44 Mu Chapter is currently ranked third in GPA among the 13 sororities on campus, with the Chi Omega average at 3.44, the all-Greek average at a 3.27, and the all-Cal average at a 3.3. Over the past few months, Vice President Brita Priest '11 has introduced to the chapter several new tools to help support members in their scholarly endeavors. For example, Brita matched each new member to a scholarship mentor with a similar major to help her plan her classes and find helpful resources on campus. She also helped transition our study folders to an electronic file that is easy for everyone to access at the same time. In October, Mu Chapter hosted our traditional scholarship dinner where we invited professors to our home to show them how Chi Os place scholarship as a top priority. SISTERS GRANT A WISH Mu Chapter welcomes its new members on Bid Day 2013. Also in October, Mu Chapter held our annual Make-A-Wish barbeque, where we invited friends to eat dinner and hang out on our lawn, with all proceeds going to Make-A-Wish. The $1,800 raised at this event, combined with approximately $2,000 made selling game-day parking, means that we will be able to grant a wish for a child this semester. NEW MEMBERS WELCOMED INTO CHI OMEGA Our chapter welcomed 42 new members after a very successful recruitment led by Recruitment Chairman Jackie Curran '12. New Member Educator Sarah Branoff '12 has done a wonderful job educating these young women about what it means to be a Chi O, and they have become such an important part of our sisterhood in the past few months that it's hard to imagine our chapter without them. As you can imagine, it has truly been a pleasure to represent Mu Chapter through these exciting times. I am so grateful to the rest of the executive board, the advisory board, and the corporation for all of their invaluable help along the way. In addition, I would like to thank all of our alumnae who have supported us by offering time, skills, and a glimpse at what it really means when we say that Chi Omega is for a lifetime. I hope that you will stop by 2421 Piedmont Avenue soon and have the chance to meet and inspire our newest members. Loyally, Katie Hilton '12 Chapter President calchiomegapresident@gmail.com
