A Citizen Advisory Committee - comprised of volunteers from the development community, as well as neighborhood and environmental groups - played a key role in crafting the document that will shape the City’s future. Anderson is certain that “the comprehensive process of staff and community engagement has led to a document that will impact the quality of life in Fayetteville for generations to come.” In the next six months, staff will reach out to the community at-large as the task of remapping the  goes forward. The goal is to translate the old to the new with only modest changes. Citizens can read the UDO draft and approved amendments on the City website by logging onto www.cityoffayetteville.org, clicking on Residents   version of the UDO, as a whole, is expected to be on the website after it is printed by the end of January. Recycle Your Tree with Grinding of the Greens The tree you’ve enjoyed all holiday season can help forever “green” the Cape Fear Botanical Garden. Through the Grinding of the Greens, PWC, Progress Energy and the City of Fayetteville partner to recycle trees as mulch for the Garden’s beds and paths. If you live in the City, just put your tree out for pick-up by the morning of Jan. 3. Or take your tree to the Cape Fear Botanical Garden anytime before 9 am on Saturday, Jan. 8. Trees will be turned into mulch that morning so be sure to get there early! City Announces New Year’s Schedules The City of Fayetteville has announced its New Year’s  Dec. 31. Recreation centers are closed Friday, Dec. 31 and Saturday, Jan. 1. Transit buses will run at full service on New Year’s Eve, but there will be no transit service Saturday, Jan. 1. There will be no trash collection Friday, Dec. 31, but it will be collected Monday, Jan. 3. Recycling will be collected on regular schedule Friday, Dec. 31. Yard waste collection for Friday, Dec. 31 and Monday, Jan. 3 will be postponed until Friday, Jan. 7 and Monday, Jan. 10, respectively, as crews catch up on trash collection.
