Rob Sich Scores His SPHL Record 223rd Goal

Fayetteville FireAntz has had a very suc- cessful tenure with the club. Since joining the team halfway through the 2006-07 season, Sich has become the most decorated FireAntz player in club history. Along with the numerous SPHL Player of the Week awards he has garnered he also has been named the league’s Most Valuable Player twice.
Last season was a breakthrough per-
formance for the highly talented forward. Sich amassed a league record 63 goals in only 56 games played. He also tied a league record, held by former member of the FireAntz, Steve Roberts, of five goals in a game on March 6, 2010. Sich’s name is impressively prominent throughout the SPHL record book, but this season he broke the biggest record the league has to offer. On Nov. 27, in a home contest against the Augusta Riverhawks, Sich scored a goal at the 10:32 mark of the 1st period. The goal was the 223rd of his SPHL career, breaking the mark for career goals scored. He passed former Knoxville Ice Bear Kevin Swider. Sich needed only 270 games to break the record that took Swider 312 to set.
Sich is having another banner year this year. Through 22 games played, he
has scored 17 goals, assisted on 12 others, for 29 points. Expect the fire- works to continue for the high-flying forward for the FireAntz the remainder of the season.

FireAntz. On New Year’s Eve the FireAntz play at the Crown Coliseum with a special 6 p.m. puck drop. The next day, New Year’s Day, the FireAntz are at home again for a normal 7:30 p.m. start time. Ring in the New Year with Rob Sich and the Fayetteville FireAntz.
