It has been very rewarding and after I recovered from the unescapable effects of working muscles that haven't been moved in certain ways for far too long, I started seeing the results. I like where I go, the girls I work out with and what we do. Each and every person in there is a budding You Matter column for the future. Today, well, Monday, yesterday for those who are reading this today, I went to class expecting to do circuits, have my thighs killed because it was leg day and do what I expected to do. I was wrong. When I walked into class, there was someone new in front. Someone small, cute and in full make up. Someone I didn't know and I was sure didn't know me. I instantly got scared. I thought about slinking out the door and going for a run because I know what running is, I can do it, it is familiar- but I stayed. Turns out, our instructor was out with an injury and in her place was Rosie the instructor for U-Jam. For those of you who don't know, U-Jam is dancing. DANCING. I was mortified. I. Don't. Dance. I stopped dancing at some point in life when one of my kids pointed out that I shouldn't because it was a sight better saved for private areas of the home, with no one else home to see. So I stopped dancing and became someone who doesn't dance. Rosie, told each of us we didn't have to stay, some left, most stayed. I stayed. Now, I wold love to tell you that what happened next was just like a movie, where I busted out hidden moves that no one knew I had in me. adults as a U-Jam instructor.
