Visions of Violets Beta Sigma Chapter of Sigma Kappa Sorority at Purdue University • Fall 2013 Beta Sigma celebrates a successful Bid Day. Beta Sigma Enjoying Successful Fall Semester Chapter Recruits 37 New Members W elcome, alumnae! These are exciting times for Beta Sigma. We have had a great fall semester so far, highlighted by the chapter recruiting 37 new members this semester. For Bid Day we enjoyed a candythemed night at Sigma Kappa and our new members were introduced to their heart sisters, who celebrated their excitement by showing them around the house. Later in the evening our newest members decorated their own ΣΚ letters. The ladies were able to get to know one another and our chapter members as well. There was a candy bar filled with an assortment of favorite sweets. All of our hard work during pre-recruitment and recruitment has officially paid off. Beta Sigma sisters after the Country Club Classic philanthropy event at Ackerman Hills. win first place. Prizes were given from Ackerman Hills to the winning teams, Theta Chi and Alpha Omicron Phi. It was a successful philanthropy and we are excited to do it again next fall. New Philanthropy introduced We are excited to introduce our new philanthropy, the Country Club Classic. Along with Delta Chi Fraternity, 17 teams competed in a golf scramble at Ackerman Hills at the Boilermaker Golf Course. Each team was given a golf cart and clubs, and spent the morning driving and putting to Our chapter is having a busy yet fun-filled semester and we hope to see you soon! Scholarly Sigmas Last semester we significantly improved our chapter GPA, ranking above the all-campus average and moving from 16th to seventh in the Panhellenic sorority average. At the Regional Leadership Conference we attended this summer, we were also recognized for our academic achievement. The chapter worked hard all semester by increasing our study table hours and it paid off. We continue to work hard and improve even more.
