F CUSOn Holiday Time Recycling Ahhh…..the holidays. It’s time for good cheer…… and shopping, tree trimming, gift wrapping and parties. All this activity creates a good deal of extra trash around your home or business. Here are some suggestions to reduce clutter: First, try to reduce the amount of trash you accumulate. Take reusable bags when you go shopping in order to reduce the number of plastic and other bags you bring home. These buses should be placed into  third phase of FAST’s vehicle replacement program. Approximately $3.1 million received from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 paid for the buses. Three more buses are expected to be ordered in the future, upon approval of a grant. FAST  extended evening hours on four routes and added another route. For more information about FAST, log onto www.ridefast.net. Green Street Gets a Facelift Efforts are being made by the City of Fayetteville to revitalize Green Street in the downtown area. The scope of the project includes decorative brick sidewalks with concrete bands, tree wells and ad ditional parking spaces. Browe Construction Company, Inc. was awarded the streetscape project and began construction Nov. 8.   and landscaped beds. The Fayetteville Area System of Transit (FAST) will install bus shelters at the existing bus stop locations. The project is scheduled to be completed around the beginning of April. Work on Green Street has been in progress for quite awhile.  relocating all overhead utilities underground and replacing light poles with new decorative poles. The City’s Engineering & Infrastructure Department completed the design work.
