Fayetteville Technical Community College’s Forever Gold Campaign
by BRENT MICHAELS The Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) Foundation Board
of Directors launched its inaugural annual FTCC Forever Gold community fund-drive campaign on Tuesday, Oct. 12, with a breakfast in the FTCC Culinary Dining Hall. The campaign, chaired by Dr. Carl Brinkley along with honorary co-chairs Tony Rand and Harry Shaw, set a solicitation goal of $100,000. This year’s event is themed “Building Success for Students,” where monetary gifts to the Foundation will directly impact students and the day- to-day operations of the college. The mission of the FTCC Foundation, Inc., is to foster
and promote the growth, progress and general welfare of Fayetteville Technical Community College, provide supple- mentary financial support to the college and its students, and advance and enrich the services provided for students, the community, alumni, faculty and staff of the college. Although Fayetteville Technical Community College is a state- supported institution and receives both state and county funds, the college and its students continue to need financial assistance. Almost 75 percent of FTCC’s students need financial aid for tu- ition, books and program supplies. FTCC graduate and Disney campus representative Barbara Mattheu comments, “I would like to say how proud I have been to be a part of the student body at FTCC. My proudest mo- ment was when I came across the stage at graduation to receive the President’s Award funded by the foundation. Because of this award, I was able to continue my studies and I will be attending FTCC towards a degree in Human Resources with an ultimate goal
of becoming an office manager in a law office utilizing both my paralegal de- gree and forthcoming human resources degree.”
Another FTCC graduate and former ambassador Barbara
Papillo states, “While serving my country in the U.-S. Air Force for the past 20 years, I experienced financial, time, and academic challenges while pursuing a college education. My military and life experiences have impressed upon me the value of a col- lege education. With the gracious assistance of the FTCC Foundation, I have been able to pursue my dream of attain- ing a college degree.” Additional information about the FTCC Foundation’s

The foundation acknowledges that any contribution will make the difference for many stu- dents who would otherwise not be able to further their educa- tion and greatly appreciates the support of our students in their academic endeavors. The FTCC Foundation, Inc., is a tax exempt 501(c)(3) chari-
table organization operating exclusively to promote the college’s educational and cultural purposes. Founded in 1984, the foundation works to coordinate private giving to the college-identifying, receiving and managing gifts and financial
resources from private sources.
