Psi Chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta At the university of Alabama The Squirrel's Nest fall 2013 Recruitment Livens Up Sorority House Support Still Needed to Complete Our Home R ecruitment is such an exciting but critically important time for all sororities. New members will soon become the leaders and alumnae of the future, so we must carefully choose the best. In the past few years, it was difficult for us to host more than 100 rushees at a party in addition to the 250+ members in our sorority house. The sheer size of recruitment at Alabama made it a hardship in our old sorority house. This year the added space made the flow of recruitment so much better for our girls. The party spaces, kitchen facilities, and spacious chapter room allowed us to stretch and breathe. As much as I cringed when I saw the CW letters on our old house (they are renting it from the University while they remodel), it already feels like home in our new house and the girls love it! Visit Us on Football Weekends We really want our alumnae to enjoy the new house and our beautiful back porch and courtyard on game days. We will be serving lunch for most home games two hours prior to kickoff. Check the Psi Chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta Facebook page for times and menus. With all the media attention and hardship following recruitment, it's critically important we continue to support our actives and the new house. Chapter room chairs are still available for naming opportunities at $250 each. You may name a chair in honor or in memory of someone and it may be given by an individual, a pledge class, or as a family gift. Please see the enclosed form to complete and mail. Save the Date Because we've had many requests to do another big party like the Donor Gala, we booked Indian Hills Country Club and Chevy 6 for Saturday, April 12, 2014. This will be a fundraising event and will be open to all alumnae, so mark your calendar and plan to join us for a great time! Although the sorority house is gorgeous, we still need some items to complete our decorating. The undergraduates have requested a sofa for the café area off the dining room and a TV to enjoy between classes. Because many of them study in the basement, they don't want to disturb others with TVs. We still need to hang artwork, put a bench under the antique mirror in the living room, and purchase furniture to finish the alumnae room. Ann Cox Ross '66, our fabulous AGD alumnae decorator, has several pieces in mind when budgets allow. We hope to soon purchase a sofa for undergraduates and alumnae to enjoy.
