PAGE 2 TAU TOPICS The New Tau Chapter House The house dedication celebration was enjoyed by more than 800 guests in attendance. Alumnus Serves Tau Chapter George Kramer '96 Thankful for Fraternal Experience or many young men, going through recruitment and choosing a fraternity can be one of the toughest decisions they will have to make. This wasn't the case for George Kramer '96, who knew Theta Chi was the right choice for him from the beginning. "I pledged Theta Chi as a sophomore and my decision was to pledge Theta Chi or not pledge at all. I met a lot of guys that I developed a great deal of respect for. Accepting my bid was one of the best decisions I have made in my life," he said. F During his time in the Tau Chapter House, George served as pledge class social chairman, intramural soccer coach, and kitchen manager. He remains a dedicated member of Theta Chi by serving as the campaign chairman for the Celebrating the Legacy, Forging the Future campaign and has been instrumental in the development of the new Chapter House. "I could not be more proud of the generosity of our brotherhood, and I think the house is magnificent. It is truly representative of our great Fraternity and University," he said. George's passion for the Fraternity stems from the lifelong lessons he learned as an active member. "We were not the biggest chapter on campus, but we were the strongest. Through loyalty and hard work, we accomplished great things," he said. "One of the greatest lessons I learned from Theta Chi was our ability to exceed expectations through hard work and collective action." One of his favorite undergraduate memories is being elected student body president in 2000. He believes it would not have been possible without the strong support and dedication of Tau Chapter. George is thrilled with the new Chapter House and is thankful to have been involved throughout the process. "Tau Chapter had the best brotherhood on campus and it remains strong. Our shared experiences and values form a unique bond that transcends eras and provides me with a great sense of pride as a brother of Tau Chapter." He wants to remind brothers of the importance that Tau Chapter has had in all of their lives and the need for it to continue at the University of Florida. "It's never too late and it's worth it. The trust and respect we have between brothers is hard to replicate," he said. Outside of the Fraternity, George is president and founder of Kramer & Little, a land planning consulting firm based in Orlando, Fla. He and his wife, Anjali, have two children, Lily and Malcolm.
