The lyre letter A Note from the Xi Chapter Educational Corporation The Alpha Chi Omega Educational Corporation supports Xi Chapter collegians to achieve academically through funding scholarships, and educational resources and honoring collegians who exhibit academic and leadership success. BASEMENT RENOVATION PROJECT One significant example of the Educational Corporation's funding of educational resources has been the basement renovation project, which was completed over the past two years. As many of you know, the project was broad in scope and included major structural improvements and electrical upgrades as well as a complete redecorating with new furnishings. The renovation project has been completed and this fall our collegians will continue to enjoy using the upgraded study area and living space. PLEASE CONSIDER A DONATION Successfully completing the basement renovation project is a significant accomplishment and we could not have done so without the financial commitment of many generous supporters. However, today we have a remaining balance of approximately $150,000. The Education Corporation is hopeful that we can retire the renovation project balance within the next three years. Once again, if possible, please consider making a tax-deductible donation to the renovation project fund. No donation is too small and we truly value and appreciate the wonderful generosity of the Xi Chapter. CONSIDER A CHARITABLE BEQUEST One way to support AXΩ is through including a financial gift to the chapter in your will or living trust. This is a popular way to easily support the organizations that have played an important role in your life. Charitable bequests have become so popular because they are simple to do, flexible, and tax deductible. GETTING STARTED To make a charitable bequest to the Xi Chapter you need a current will or revocable living trust. Next, simply add the following language: page 2 Give Back for What Xi Chapter Gave You bet if each and every Alpha Chi thought about where they are today, they would trace a portion of that path back to Alpha Chi Omega. I would guess that many of you met a spouse, moved to a new city, changed majors, or have a forever friend because you were and are an Alpha Chi. This is why I give back. I One night 18 years ago my pledge sister asked if I had a date to an upcoming date party and if not, did I want to go with her brother? I married that man nearly two years later. I now have two beautiful children, a lovely life in Lincoln, Nebraska, and two awesome sisters-in-law. Where are you today because of Alpha Chi Omega? Now that you have had a chance to reminisce about the wonderful things that Alpha Chi has brought to you, think about how you can give back. Whether through donations, volunteering, or attending local events we need you. If you have thought about supporting Xi Chapter in some capacity, please do so today. Your support will ensure that more ladies will have the wonderful experience at Xi that you had. Start by joining one of our local alumnae groups, where you will continue to build friendships and networks. Please connect with us on facebook at www.facebook.com/groups/ XiChapterAlumnae or e-mail me to learn more about being an involved alumna. Loyally, Nichole Palmer '94 nichole@knotsandtots.com "I [name] of [full address] give, devise and bequeath to the Educational Corporation of the Xi Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega, Lincoln, Nebraska [amount of gift or percent of your estate or description of property] for its unrestricted use and purpose." Making a charitable bequest is flexible because you can change it at any time. Plus, you may make it for a fixed amount or you may bequest a percentage of your estate, which is an important consideration if the value of your estate fluctuates. And, if your estate is subject to an estate tax, your gift is entitled to an estate tax charitable deduction for the gift's full value. A LASTING IMPACT Once again, any size of a charitable bequest would be very helpful and greatly appreciated, and it would have a lasting impact on the chapter. For more information on how to make a charitable bequest, or if you have any questions, please call me. Loyally, Denise R.
