NUnews Official Alumni Newsletter of Nu Chapter of Sigma Nu Fraternity, Inc. Fall 2013 House Prepared for Outstanding Pledge Class Alumni Board Elects New Officers D o you remember the first time you saw the Governor's Mansion? I sure do, and it was rough in the fall of 1966. Thanks to generous alumni, we had the Williams Wing built the next year and a brand new house to live in for the next three years. It was such a treat. The last alumni board meeting on April 27 was largely devoted to deciding what improvement projects to pursue now that the house is full and we are doing well financially. Other chapters are spending big sums to update and renovate, so it is important that we keep up with the competition. Since then, we've completed the following: We updated the first floor by replacing the old red carpet with refinished hardwood flooring. P Refinished the hardwood floors on the first floor where the red carpet used to be P Installed new carpet on the stairs and the second and third floors P Refurbished, updated, and retiled the second- and third-floor shower heads P Spruced up the first-floor guest bathrooms P Strengthened and resurfaced the basketball court and added new goals In addition to attending to these needed projects, we have accumulated the beginnings of a reserve fund for future repairs and improvements. We are discussing ways to begin chipping away at the debt remaining on the house. Of course, none of these projects would be possible without the very generous support of the Mom's Club and several alumni. These contributions will allow us to do all of the necessary projects, instead of just a portion. New carpet throughout the second and third floors really spruces up our chapter house. Showers throughout the second and third floor were updated and retiled. During the meeting, we also elected several new officers and board members. Serving one-year terms are Bill Gradinger '62, Nu 1131, Bill Oliver '54, Nu 945, and Mike Blumenthal '86, Nu 1724. Serving twoyear terms are Steve Moon '67, Nu 1257, Howard Forsythe '68, Nu 1263, and Kevin Lydon '70, Nu 1326. If you are also willing to serve, please let me know. Fraternally, Ken Guest '67, Nu 1247 President, House Corporation kguestdds@aol.com Our strengthened and resurfaced basketball court, complete with new goals, is a favorite among the brothers.
