pi beta phi pa g e 5 O Undergraduates Pledge $100,000 to From Roots to Wings Campaign Chapter Receives Several Awards during Spring Semester n behalf of the Texas Gamma Chapter, we extend our most sincere gratitude to the alumnae who have shown their support to the From Roots to Wings campaign. We are thrilled for the journey that lies ahead and are excited about the opportunities that the renovations will bring to Texas Gamma. We could not have gotten this far without your arduous efforts and we greatly appreciate it. Committed to Texas Gamma Over the next five years, the active members of Texas Gamma have pledged $100,000 toward the From Roots to Wings campaign. This commitment exudes our members' dedication to the success of our Chapter. Although the junior and senior pledge classes will be alumnae when the renovations are completed, all active members have committed to the allotted donations. We are ready to embrace the changes that lie ahead for Texas Gamma and are fully prepared for the commitment that will come with the future renovations. Exceeding Expectations The Texas Gamma Chapter has exceeded all expectations within the Panhellenic community, excelling in all aspects, from academics to community service. Pi Phi stole the show at the spring Greek Awards Banquet. The awards we received exemplify how hard we have worked this year to keep Texas Gamma a thriving Chapter within this community. • Excellence in Community Service • Excellence in Scholarship • Excellence in Leadership • Outstanding Academics • Chapter of the Year • Dean's Cup • Panhellenic Member of the Year Award: Erika Allen '09 • Living Your Values Award: Kayse English '10 Our kitchen will be updated during renovations to meet the needs of our active members. Texas Gamma is thrilled to welcome its newest group of new members to the Chapter! These women are devoted to improving our Chapter and our future. Not only were we recognized for the awards listed above, but we have also continuously held the highest GPA of all Greek organizations for the past five semesters. Our members are constantly striving to surpass the minimum requirements. We have accomplished all planned goals with drive and dedication. Recognition at Convention At the Pi Beta Phi Biennial Convention, we were accompanied by thousands of Pi Phis from coast to coast. It was a rewarding experience for our two vice presidents who attended, Morgan Kinloch '11 and Katherine Parker '11, and our advisor, Tracy Fenter '92. We had the opportunity to meet other Texas Gammas at convention who have continued their commitment by serving as advisors and participating in alumnae clubs. We had an amazing time at convention walking in the Banner Parade and participating in educational seminars. To top it off, we were recognized with three awards: the Spirit Award, the Beta Recognition Award, and the Number One on Campus Award. We were also recognized for donating more than $25 per member to the Pi Beta Phi Foundation. The Future of Texas Gamma What does the future of Texas Gamma look like? Our outdated bathroom will be revamped and an ADA-compliant bathroom will be added. We will continue the Angel Library at Covenant Children's Hospital by reading to ill children Monday through Thursday every week. We will raise money for literacy by hosting our Halloween festival, Pie Fest, and our volleyball tournament, Arrow Spike. Vice President of Communications Ellen Scott '10 plans to increase our family involvement by sending out newsletters and postcards each semester. Lauren Coker '10, vice president of member development, plans to keep motivating the Chapter to continue our streak of highest GPA. She also hopes to surpass all previous expectations for the annual faculty banquet. Melanie Silvestri '10, vice president of membership, worked hard during Spirit Week and recruitment for our 2013 pledge class. With her help, we pledged 71 lovely ladies this fall (a huge pledge class for Texas Gamma). We are dedicated to surpassing expectations and ensuring that Texas Gamma is a Chapter that you can be proud of. Thank you for your support as we prepare the lodge for future generations of Texas Gamma leaders. Yours in Pi Beta Phi, Kayse English '10 Chapter President kayseenglish@gmail.com (817) 300-7023 Storage areas and closets will be redesigned to give our members much-needed, usable space.
