Theta Kite 2 Alpha Chi Looks to Build on Spring Success Alpha Chi Candidate for Homecoming Court New Semester, New Goals for Actives T he fall semester at Purdue University is always exciting, as the sounds of the marching band and the Boilermaker Special fill the campus with pride and anticipation for football season. The Alpha Chi Thetas were all thrilled with the updated appearance of the chapter house that greeted us upon our return, and we look forward to another year together. We are eager to welcome our new members into the bonds of sisterhood and to offer them a lifelong opportunity for social, intellectual, and moral growth. Theta Excels in Academics and Philanthropy Our Alpha Chi Chapter continues to excel on campus. We ended the spring 2013 semester with the third-highest GPA once again within Panhellenic. Last year, our members completed over 11,000 hours of community service and participated in over 22 philanthropic events within the Greek community. This year, we look forward to hosting our annual philanthropy event, benefitting the Tippecanoe County CASA with our brother fraternity, Phi Gamma Delta. The Theta-Fiji Grill-Off will be on October 13 in our parking lot. For this event, the Greek community forms teams to compete in a grilling competition to win the titles of best meal and best theme. Last year, we were recognized by the Tippecanoe County CASA as recipients of the Margaret J. Hand Child Advocacy Award. Alpha Chi Honored for Panhellenic Spirit Each year, a Greek Gala and Greek Life Awards event is held in which chapters are recognized for their accomplishments. Last spring, we were once again the proud and humbled winners of the Gamma Phi Beta Panhellenic Spirit Award. This is awarded to the chapter that excels in E rin Whittaker '10, a senior studying quantitative agricultural economics and French at Purdue University, is a 2013 candidate for Homecoming Court. Receiving these awards speaks volumes for the quality, enthusiasm, and ambition of our women. Two of our seniors, Christina Burke '10 and Erin Whittaker '10, were inducted into the newest Mortar Board class last spring, and Erin was elected president of Mortar Board. Our Newest Alpha Chi Alumnae Homecoming Set for September 28 Homecoming this year is on Saturday, September 28, and we look forward to the chance to meet with our alumnae that weekend as you return to your alma mater. Kappa Alpha Theta Dad's Day will be on November 2. Dads are invited to join their daughters as the Boilermakers take on the Ohio State Buckeyes in Ross-Ade Stadium. The Alpha Chi Thetas have much to be proud of, as our chapter continually holds true to each of our fraternity values. I consider myself blessed to serve as president of this impressive group of women, and I hope that our alumnae see their legacies reflected in our actions. We welcome you back to the chapter house at any time so that we can thank you personally for your constant support and interest in our endeavors.
