Spooky Happenings Downtown! From trick or treating and hayrides to zombies and horror stories, Downtown Fayetteville is full of entertainment this month from family friendly fun to the "bit scarier" variety! Check out the jam-packed October calendar and ENJOY! Historic Hauntings: A Ghastly Ghost Tour: The staff of the award-winning Dogwood Festival brings you Historic Hauntings: A Ghastly Ghost Tour, a haunted hayride and walking tour narrated with tales of historic adventure into Fayetteville's chilling past and spine-chilling happenings. This tour takes place Oct. 17-19 and 24-26 departing from 725 W. Rowan Street. Wagons leave on time so arrive early! Tickets are $17 and must be purchased in advance. Hallows Eve Cemetery Walk: City Historian Bruce Daws will lead a walking tour through Cross Creek Cemetery on Oct. 30 giving details on people and events that have taken place in the cemetery. Tickets are $10 and must be purchased in advance. Proceeds go towards the restoration of Cross Creek Cemetery. Hillside House of Horror: After your Historic Hauntings tour, get ready for some indoor scary fun with the Hillside House of Horror, a haunted house, at 725 W. Rowan Street starting at 7 p.m. on Oct. 17-19 and Oct. 24-26. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent. Tickets are $6, but will be discounted $1 if you bring a canned good item to benefit the Fayetteville Urban Ministry food pantry. For more information, visit www.faydogwoodfestival.com. 4th Friday Zombie Walk!: You might see zombies on TV, but downtown has the real costumed deal when zombies come out for a procession down Hay Street this 4th Friday, Oct. 25. Also, a Zombie Prom, because the undead still want to have fun, will be held at The Rock Shop beginning at 10 p.m. For more information, visit www.therockshoplive.com. Calendar of Events Halloween Activities at the Museum of the Cape Fear Complex: A Victorian Halloween is being featured at scheduled times now until Oct. 31 with a free tour to learn about the Poe House and traditional Halloween decor. A Jack-O-Lantern contest will be held Oct. 23-25. Enter yours to win through various categories and age groups beginning Oct. 23. And from Oct. 18-19 and 25-26, celebrate Hallowe'en Revels featuring actors portraying members of the Poe Household for a true Hallowen themed tour. Tickets are $3 for ages 10 and up (children 9 and under, free). Tours run every 20 minutes until 9 p.m. Of course, if that was not enough, the Poe House Trick or Treat will be held Oct. 26 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a costume contest and carnival games. Oct. 13 – 4th Annual Taste of Fayetteville, Cumulus Broadcasting, www.q98fm.com Downtown Fayetteville Trick or Treat!: The merchants of the Fayetteville Downtown Alliance will be treating pint-size ghosties and ghouls with candy delights (as supplies last) on Thursday, Oct. 31 from 4 to 6 p.m. Come bring your children dressed in the Halloween best for a safe, well-lit place to Trick or Treat! FYP Nightmare on Hay Street Halloween Party: Fayetteville Young Professionals will be celebrating a "Nightmare on Hay Street on Friday, Oct. 25 during 4th Friday and the Zombie Walk at The Tap House and Huske Brewery (411 Hay Street) from 8-10pm with complimentary appetizers upstairs. Costume contest starts at 9 for best costume male/female, best couple costume, and best Zombie. Participants will also receive wristbands for access to Huske next door at 10 p.m. with no cover or waiting in line for their annual Halloween bash with DJ and dancing.
