Martens '90 Jeff Daniel '07 Alumnus Gives Back to Gamma Tau J Joe Aiello '80 Encourages Chapter Support for Future Generations oe Aiello '80 was a dedicated undergraduate member of Theta Chi at Drake University. His time spent in the Gamma Tau Chapter house helped shape the person he is today, so he does all he can to give back to Gamma Tau. Residing in St. Charles, Missouri, with his wife, Leslie, Joe has worked as a defense contractor since graduating with a bachelor's degree in finance. He serves as chairman of the National Alumni Association at Drake, as well as a member of Drake's Board of Trustees, and is able to visit the chapter house and interact with both undergraduates and alumni several times a year. "It is so rewarding to get back in touch. I was out of touch for about 20 years and was able to reconnect about 12 years ago. It is awesome to see how much the undergraduates appreciate interaction with alumni," he said. Joe is extremely impressed by the growth and development of Gamma Tau. "I have to admire the guys stepping up and accepting much more responsibility for their actions, with regard to safety and respect for the law. They are also taking a more adult approach much earlier in their college careers, in their dealings with alumni, and trying to chart out their future," he said. Participating in A Testament to Our Past, A Legacy for Our Future campaign was an easy decision for Joe. "It's our turn now. I got so much out of the chapter—both as an undergraduate and as an alumnus. The chapter needs our support now and it's time for us to step up." He is hopeful for the positive effect the new chapter house and alumni center will have on Theta Chi at the university. "We will become the preeminent chapter on campus. We already have the men; with this campaign we will have the house too. It will reinforce the Theta Chi tradition on Drake's campus for years. Theta Chi will become the fraternity at Drake University." Joe urges brothers to participate in the campaign and reminds them that membership does not come without responsibility. "We've benefitted from our membership in Theta Chi, so it's time to pay it forward and provide those benefits to future generations of brothers."
