Sisterhood Strengthens Ties Lauren Fulmer McBride '02 and Morgan Fulmer '05 Bond through Gamma Phi Beta Membership J oining a sorority can be one of the best experiences in a woman's life. It creates a firm foundation on which to start a college career, gives a home away from home, and provides a house full of new sisters. For two Gamma Phis, this experience was particularly special because they were sisters before joining the chapter. Lauren Fulmer McBride '02 joined GFB in 2002 at the urging of her mother, who was in a sorority in her college days. After attending a small, Christian school her entire life, Lauren was grateful for the fun, easygoing atmosphere Gamma Phi offered. She met some of her best friends in the chapter and is still closely connected with them today. Morgan Fulmer '05 followed in her sister's footsteps and joined the chapter in 2005. "I was excited about joining a sorority after hearing my sister talk about it for three years," she said. "I fell in love with Gamma Phi on my own, and my sister being there made it seem like even more of a perfect fit." Being in the chapter together brought the sisters closer together. "Morgan joining Gamma Phi was one of the best days of my college experience," said Lauren. "She kept her lips sealed the entire week of recruitment and my nerves were on edge because I really didn't know which house she was going to choose." Even though they were only active members together for one year, Morgan helped Lauren stay connected with the chapter after graduating. "I took every chance I could to visit her and the house; it let me linger a little longer," she said. "Once a Gamma Phi always a Gamma Phi." 2 Both sisters are off to successful careers since graduating from the University of Kansas. Lauren lives in Uganda, Africa, with her husband, Dustin. They work for Dustin's company, Zambikes, which is a non-profit organization that works to connect rural villages in Africa to health clinics. Morgan attended physicians assistant school after graduating and currently lives in Minneapolis, working at the Minneapolis Heart Institute. The sisters' advice to undergraduate members is two-fold: first, learn to be satisfied with who you are. "Undergraduate girls stress so much about trying to be too many different people. Let your sorority sisters help you build your selfconfidence," said Lauren. Their second piece of advice is to learn to take everything in stride. "Undergraduates stress about the little things so easily. In the end, it will all work itself out," said Morgan. G Roxanne Reber Scholarship Fund amma Phi sisters and friends of Roxanne Reber '78 traveled to Lawrence on April 24 to attend the Sigma Scholarship Dinner. Roxanne passed away on February 20, 2013, and alumnae and family donated funds to the Gamma Phi Beta Foundation for a scholarship in her memory. Gamma Phis celebrated Roxanne's life and met the recipient of the Roxanne Reber Scholarship, Lainey Ruby '10, who was honored to receive the award.   We thank the following alumnae who donated to the scholarship fund:   Joy Schul Anderson '77 Sally Ramseyer Beck '74 Ann Covalt Clinkscale '78 Debi Dennis Duckworth '76 Mary Beth Mueller Doughty '76  Susan Klotz Engstrom '78 Diane Gorman Gillespie '78 June Gorman '79 Judy Shepherd Hawkins '78 Stephanie Hearn '82 Deb Oliver Humphrey'77 Natalie Evenson Johnson '80 Laura Dunmire Klotz '80 Anne Pohlman Knorr '78 Nancy Hammel Kuehler, Beta Upsilon '75 Rhonda L.
