Something for everyone at this year's fair There will be a full house at the 93rd annual Tehama District Fair where for the first time there's a waiting list for vendors with about 100 concessionaires and exhibitors will be gathered today through Sunday. Booth spaces filled up about two weeks prior to the fair, Fair Office Manager Toney James said. There will also be a full carnival with 25 different rides. Among those are two tractor vendors and two car dealerships. There is also a huge tractor that has GPS and the ability to auto steer, Fair CEO Mark Eidman said. "It's the biggest tractor we've ever had on the Tehama District Fairground," Eidman said. "The office shook when they drove it in." The $350,000 tractor is almost as tall as the fair office building, he said. The community is invited to come and kick up their heels starting Thursday with the gates opening at 2 p.m. Carnival begins at 4 p.m. and the grand opening ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. Fair will be open at 8 a.m. daily for the remainder of the week, closing at midnight Friday and Saturday and 11 p.m. on Sunday. The first big event will be the Miss Tehama County contest where six girls are competing for the title starting at 7 p.m. on the Midway Stage. Corning contestants are Sherrie Bell, 20, Elle Davis, 17, Monica Decasper, 17, and Michelle Jaramillo, 17. Red Bluff is being represented by Kayla McCoshum, 17, and Nicole Suave, 16. Bell, sponsored by Olive City Home Care, is the daughter of Frank and Marietta Bell. Davis, sponsored by Remax, American Dreams and Napa City Auto Parts, is the daughter of Scott and Linda Davis. She is a Corning Union High School senior. Decasper, sponsored by The Gold Exchange and Compass Consulting, is the daughter of Mark and Monica Kinney. She is also a Corning High School senior. McCoshum, sponsored by Dudley's Excavating and Wheeler Logging, is the daughter of Dale and Kathy McCoshum. She is a Red Bluff Union High School senior. Suave, sponsored by Dominic's Engineering and Coastal Business Services, is the daughter of Jim and Kris Suave. She is a Red Bluff High School junior. Jaramillo, sponsored by DM-Tech and Kingwell Farms, is the granddaugh- ter of Norman and Carol Scott of Corning. She is a senior at Mercy High School. Little Miss Tehama County will be 1 p.m. Saturday on the Kerstiens Stage with, Kaycee Lynn Murphy, Abby Gayle Burlison, Caleea Michelle McCray, Lillie Cierra Rainwater, Josephine Alula Tinker, Ivy SantanaLee Bain, Luciana Michelle Ferriera, Emma Leann Ferguson, Rylee Hunter Reed, Kathryn Carbonell, Isabel Carbonell, Gracelyn Nicole Hayes and Brooke Mairead Shackelford competing. Beatrice Guttierrez was crowned Teen Miss Tehama County and Masie Skelton was selected for Junior Miss Tehama County on Saturday, Sept. 21. The featured commodity for the 2013 fair is fruits and places from all over Tehama County will be represented with prunes, peaches, apples and pomegranates available for purchase. There will also be a wine tasting bar open from 4-10 p.m. daily. Open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday-Sunday, there will also be a few dinners attached to the marketplace with proceeds going to the fairgrounds. On Friday, there is a pulled pork dinner featuring meat from A&R Meats for $15 sponsored by Haleakala Walnut Shelling from 6-8 p.m. in the hospitality tent. Saturday's dinner, Bounty of County, is sponsored by Crain Walnut Shelling and will be 6-8 p.m. in the hospitality tent as well. Cost is $25 per ticket. New Clairvaux will be featured at the dinner, which also includes wine pairing, Event Chairwoman Mary Jayne Eidman said. The Tehama County Cattlewomen will hold a beef appetizers event 6-8 p.m. on Thursday. Tickets are $10 each. Friday will host two big events with Outlaw Karts going at 6 p.m. in the main arena. The Diaper Derby registration is in the main office, which is open daily 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Sunday. Among the many delights at fair will be local magician Bryan Gilles and Korndogg Klown will also be on the grounds. Fair will also include a street dance 9-11 p.m. featuring local entertainers Chad Bushnell, Kellie Rodriguez and Mountain Messengers. The Junior Livestock Auction is set for 10 a.m. Saturday in the Don Smith Pavilion. Fair admission is $1 for adults, ages 13 and up, Thursday and free for children ages 12 and under. Sunday is also free admission for those 12 and under. Friday is special peoples and seniors day with a special program at 10:30 a.m. on the Kerstiens Stage. A free lunch will be served to the first 500 seniors, which is 60 years old and up. Regular admission is $8 for adults and $3 for children ages 6-12. Children 5 and under are free.
