Three-Time GRAMMY® Nominated Artist Mandisa, Moves with Highly Impactful New Project Overcomer: Out August 27 After becoming a top 10 finalist on Season 5 of American Idol, Mandisa released her debut album True Beauty in 2007. Since then she has released an new project every two years. Freedom came out in 2009 and What if We Were Real in 2011. Her new CD, Overcomer is set to release nationally on Aug. 27. "Overcomer" is the lead single from the album and is an extension of the impactful message once began with her song "Stronger," an anthem that there is hope in the midst of life's battles. Mandisa says, "I recorded both the song and the album to fuel faith, empower people and remind those facing a battle, that all of the strength, power, and weapons of warfare they need is readily available to them. We are all overcomers." Produced by Christopher Stevens and David Garcia, Overcomer showcases Mandisa's powerful vocals and pop-leaning hooks that blend effortlessly through all 11 tracks. Anchored by emotional songs like her open letter to her brother in "Dear John," Overcomer is set to be Mandisa's most impactful release to date. Many songs were co-written by critically acclaimed artists and friends including Chris August ("Praying For You"), Israel Houghton ("At All Times"), Tiffany Lee, aka Plumb ("Dear John"), Britt Nicole and Cindy Morgan ("Where You Begin") and Matthew West ("The Distance"). This fall, Mandisa will once again embark on six-time GRAMMY® winner TobyMac's acclaimed Hits Deep Tour. Joining them on the tour, which kicks off Nov. 7, are Brandon Heath, Jamie Grace, Colton Dixon, Chris August and Capital Kings. Iconic Christian Rock Band Stryper Releasing New Studio Album Stryper's new studio album, No More Hell to Pay has been confirmed for a Nov. 5 release. Produced by frontman/guitarist Michael Sweet, the set features some of Stryper's strongest and heaviest material ever. Stryper is one of the top Christian rock bands of all time. Comprised of the original line-up of Michael Sweet (vocals/guitar), Oz Fox (guitar), Tim Gaines (bass) and Robert Sweet (drums), After a sabbatical for much of the 1990s, Stryper returned strong in the early 21st century. About the new project Sweet commented, "No More Hell to Pay" marks our 30 year anniversary and what a journey it has been! It's our 11th studio release since our first album in 1984 (The Yellow and the Black Attack) and it's quite possibly our best record to date. Why? It's everything you might expect from a Stryper record — high octane vocals, layered vocal harmonies, guitar solos galore, driving drums and bass and an energy that hasn't been achieved since our glory days. The message is equally as powerful as it offers hope and inspiration to anyone STEVE TURLEY, Station manager Christian listening." 107.3 COMMENTS? Editor@upancomingweekly.com.
