SIGMA NEWS GAMMA PHI BETA AT THE UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS • FALL 2025 Y our Affiliated House Corpora on Board of Gamma Phi Beta is thrilled to welcome three new members this year: Julie Newland Armstrong '79, Suzanne Willey Rumhold '86, and Sophie Blackwell Lamb '04! We greatly appreciate their willingness to volunteer me and skills to Sigma Chapter. We are grateful to have all 12 alumnae board members. The AHC Board's responsibility is to make certain our facility provides a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our members to gather, live, and share in Gamma Phi Beta's core values of Love, Labor, Learning, and Loyalty. The board con nually addresses how to though ully update, maintain, and repair our beloved old home. Some of this summer's repairs and projects included installa on of new surveillance cameras and ligh ng at points of entry, a new exterior door access security system, pain ng of the third-floor member rooms, and replacement of various resident pieces of furniture such as bunk beds, ladders, safety rails, sofas, and desks. This is in addi on to the countless regular summer maintenance and cleaning projects that ensure the house is safe and well prepared for our members living in, which is almost 80 this year. Outstanding House Director Monica Strathman adeptly oversaw many of these projects while living in the house this summer. Living at 1339 is a fond memory for so many alumnae, and the AHC Board would like to ensure that upon reflec on, future members have created the same fond memories. Our community of volunteers is crucial to maintaining our prominence within our KU sorority community and making an even brighter future for Sigma Chapter. Consider the many ways you can volunteer your skills, me, or financial contribu ons to Sigma. Becoming an AHC Board member to help oversee our home, reconnect with sisters, volunteer in one of the many chapter advisor posi ons (not all need to be in person!), or assist in keeping our database contact informa on accurate and up to date are just a few. We are looking forward to another great semester, and we welcome you to stop by the chapter house any me you are in Lawrence! In IIKE, Sigma Affiliated House Corpora on Board Inquires?
