SigEp A PUBLICATION FOR ALUMNI OF MISSOURI ALPHA t SIGMA PHI EPSILON SUMMER 2025 Tiger Heart Inside: AVC President's Corner t 2 Brothers Feeding Others t 3 Chapter Highlights t 4 I n 2019, SigEp faced the challenging task of restarting MO Alpha after two-plus years with no presence on campus. With the help of Shawn Cable, TX Rho '17, that mission began. The chapter's initial group of "founders" built quite a foundation. We're pleased to share a brief history and a "where are they now." Shawn quickly found Gabe Olwig '21, who would be the first to join SigEp's vision to build the best chapter on campus. Gabe, son of Greg Olwig '86, took the mission head-on and was the new chapter's first president. After graduating, Gabe stayed another year as house director, where he mentored the newer brothers and continued the "project." Gabe has gone on to join the chapter's AVC Board of Directors while working with his dad at their family business, United Home Health Care. Next came Greg Pierson '23. As an undergraduate, Greg served in almost every role for the chapter and as a student director on SigEp's National Board. After graduating from Mizzou's Trulaske College of Business, Greg joined Deloitte Consulting LLP as a government consulting analyst. That job took him to Chicago, where he recently served as keynote speaker for SigEp's Carlson Leadership Academy. Greg is currently the AVC secretary and carries an informal but critical role as "undergrad-alumni liaison." Last fall, Lukas Parrish '23 worked to restart the SigEp chapter at Cal Berkeley, where he recruited 26 brothers, trained their executive board, and created their Balanced Man Scholarship program. This semester, he is doing more of the same at the USC chapter and has already recruited 34 brothers in his first two months. Lukas wants to take his knowledge and experience of starting a chapter that firmly lives SigEp's values and give others the chance to experience it themselves. Another pillar of the restart of MO Alpha is Jack McGrath '23. Jack started the vice president of communications role, playing a critical role in highlighting and broadcasting SigEp's values across Mizzou's campus and the Columbia community. Jack graduated from the School of Journalism, where he was a leader in Mizzou's radio and sportscasting department. While at Mizzou, he coordinated reporting duties for other students and spent time covering Mizzou sports, all the way to Sacramento to broadcast the men's basketball game versus Princeton in 2023. After graduation, Jack moved back home to Chicago, where he now works as a producer at ESPN 1000 and serves as a freelance play-by-play broadcaster. Other brothers from the classes of 2023 and 2024 are already impacting the world around them. Andy Hinkamp '24 remains in Columbia while he gets his master's in health administration and will intern at the Mayo Clinic this summer. He serves as an AVC board member and has been an invaluable mentor to undergraduate brothers. Danny Lewis '24, Daniel Austin '24, and Zach Lovelace '24 are all teachers in their local communities. Grant Himmelmann '23 is a key analyst for the Milwaukee Brewers, producing models that help the team predict injuries and evaluate performance. Jack Shimanek '23 works as a news producer in his hometown of Baltimore, Maryland, while remaining in close touch with his brothers, especially as baseball season ramps up. Starting a chapter from scratch in the middle of a pandemic was quite a challenge, but these brothers—and several others—set the stage for what has become the top Fraternity at MU and across SigEp Nation. We hail thee, brothers! New Crop of Grads Making an Impact New Crop of Grads Making an Impact Lukas Parrish '23 kicks off the 58th Grand National Conclave in San Antonio with a rousing rendition of our national anthem for over 1,000 brothers.
