XICLONE PAGE 2 W e're pleased to welcome our new XiClone editor, Ethan Wagner '21! Ethan joined the communications committee in September 2024, and this is the second issue he has published. We're grateful to Paul Peterson '01 for his continued dedication as Development Committee Co-Chairman and to Leo Landis '87 for his ongoing service as History Committee Chairman. Special thanks to Director of Communications Matt Braafhart '98 for extending his service beyond his original commitment while we search for a new director. If you're interested in stepping into that director role, please contact me at manni.balignasay@pktalumni.com or Paul Peterson at paulpeterson13@gmail.com. We're also seeking additional volunteers and leaders, including a Director of Development. CHECK OUT THIS ALUMNI OPPORTUNITY The national Fraternity has launched a new member management system, ChapterSpot. Alumni can claim their accounts and update their information by visiting portal.phikaps.org. We're excited about this opportunity to help brothers stay connected and engaged! Our beloved Cyclones will play against K-State in Dublin, Ireland, on August 23. If you're going, feel free to post in our Facebook group, Phi Kappa Theta - Iowa Xi Alumni, and hopefully, you'll be able to connect with other brothers even across the globe! Fraternally, Manni Balignasay '01 Alumni Chapter President Looking Back and Pressing ahead A s we celebrate our third anniversary in 2024 as a nonprofit entity, the Iowa Xi Foundation continues to make meaningful progress in advancing its mission and supporting our chapter. The Greg Stein Endowment Fund remains a reliable source of funding for the Graduating Senior Recognition Dinner, held each spring and fall semester. The Jim Victor Endowment Fund provided grants in 2024 to support both our Centennial Celebration and a much-needed study room upgrade. This year, six collegiate brothers were awarded Richard Concannon Scholarships of $500 each for achieving the highest GPAs in the fall 2024 semester. Associate Member Aiden Krawchuk '28 was recognized for academic excellence, and for the first time, there was a five-way tie among undergraduates; Jack Breitbach '25, Ryan Ellsworth '24, Joseph Hager '26, Josiah Johnson '24, and Neil Prange '25 each achieved an impressive 4.0 GPA. Congratulations to these men for demonstrating the value of servant leadership through scholarship. In addition to scholarships, the Foundation made a $2,500 donation on behalf of the chapter to the 2025 Greek Week Polar Plunge, benefiting Iowa Special Olympics and helping our undergraduates bring home some well-earned recognition. Behind the scenes, we are actively working to revise the Foundation's investment strategy to ensure a stronger long-term financial outlook. We're also updating our donor records to ensure all brothers and friends of Phi Kappa Theta are properly recognized for their generous contributions. If you're interested in serving or making a donation, please contact us or visit our website at pktalumni.com/donate. Congratulations to the new and returning members of the Iowa Xi Foundation!
