Page 3 S igma Phi Epsilon's Balanced Man Scholarship not only provided Kolin Jones '13 with financial support but also led to meaningful connections. "Corey Riddle '12 and Trevor Austin '11 reached out to me to go to dinner shortly after I applied for the scholarship, and that started my journey toward officially becoming a SigEp," he shared. "Meeting many of the existing and potential new members sold me on why I should join, and the rest was history." After joining, Kolin took pride in the fraternity's culture and strong sense of unity. "The closeness and camaraderie of the brotherhood stood out versus other fraternities that recruited me," he recalled. More than just social bonds, the fraternity had a shared drive for success. "There was a grit that everyone had; the eagerness to succeed, win, and elevate the fraternity was attractive." This spirit encouraged him to take on leadership roles and contribute meaningfully to the fraternity's growth. Some of Kolin's favorite college experiences stemmed from his Oklahoma Alpha involvement. "Living in close proximity with new brothers and having a support system" were both invaluable. His enthusiasm for engagement led him to become a show director, organize social events, and help expand SigEp's presence on campus. "Connecting with brothers through competition with others was always exciting," he said. Academically, Kolin's journey took an unexpected turn when he transitioned from architectural engineering to strategic communications, sports media, and marketing. "I was fascinated with sports, and I thought this would be a great pathway," he explained. His passion led to an internship with the OKC Thunder, paving the way for an impressive career. "It all started through my relationships with my SigEp brothers," he acknowledged. A fraternity connection helped him secure his first role at AT&T, and he has since moved to Meta, where he now works in recruiting and program management. SigEp's influence on Kolin extends beyond his collegiate years, shaping his professional network and leadership style. His commitment to giving back led him to volunteer with the Cal Beta Chapter at USC. "I was looking for a new opportunity to support others, and this position came across my desk," he said. Now, as a mentor to the VP of learning communities, he is focused on guiding and developing future SigEp leaders. Although his career and frequent travels keep him busy, Kolin makes a conscious effort to stay connected with other fraternity members. "I keep up with my brothers through social media, constant text messaging, and social engagements. I believe I've been to at least one SigEp wedding a year and counting since my senior year!" Looking back on his SigEp journey so far, Kolin remains deeply grateful for the friendships and opportunities the fraternity has provided. His advice to fellow alumni is simple: "I highly advise others to reunite with their brothers if they aren't currently in contact, and 'send the ladder.'" His experience is a testament to the success and fulfillment brotherhood, leadership, and determination can provide. VARSITY REVUE RECAP O klahoma Alpha participated in Varsity Revue with the ladies of Delta Delta Delta this year. While they did not place in the top five, they had a great time getting to know their partners and placed second in philanthropy by raising $6,000.
