Girdon E. Buck '56 (Γ709) – March 10, 2025 Jay V. Ramsey '69 (Γ953) – February 14, 2025 Matthew Thorn '74 (Γ1057) – December 11, 2024 C H A P T E R E T E R N A L W hen I first arrived at Penn State, I had no intention of joining a fraternity. However, during recruitment week, I decided to visit a few houses, and from the moment I stepped into AGR, I was genuinely surprised by the warm welcome I received. The brothers made me feel like family from day one, and it quickly became clear AGR was the right place for me. Having experienced such a strong sense of inclusion and brotherhood during my recruitment, I knew I wanted to take on the role of VNR Recruitment after Francis Doerr '23 (Γ1934). This spring, we had an outstanding recruitment period, bringing in 27 exceptional new members. My primary goal as recruitment chairman was to prioritize quality over quantity, ensuring we welcomed individuals who truly represent the values of our brotherhood. Fortunately, we achieved both within a strong, well-rounded class of high-caliber men. While I'm proud of our success this semester, I believe there is always room for improvement. Recently, I attended the AGR Recruitment School in Kansas City, Missouri, where we worked with Phired Up and learned valuable recruitment strategies from Josh Orendi. His insights provided fresh, innovative approaches I'm eager to implement in the next recruitment cycle. Looking ahead, my goal is to recruit around 25 high-quality men next fall who will strengthen our chapter and contribute to the brotherhood's continued success. With the knowledge and experience I've gained, I am confident next semester's recruitment will be even more effective, further enhancing AGR's legacy at Penn State. VNR Recruitment Mark Milko '24 Growing the Brotherhood S ince my election, I've worked hard to involve more brothers in taking care of and improving the chapter house. My goal is to encourage a stronger sense of pride and responsibility while making sure our chapter continues to grow and improve. When everyone does a job and pitches in—whether it's helping with projects or simply keeping the house clean—it builds a culture of teamwork and tradition that future Gamma men can carry on. The more we work together, the stronger Gamma Chapter's bond becomes, and more pride will be taken in the house. So far, we've taken on several projects, like transforming the Rhomate area into a poker room, organizing the gym, and keeping the library clean. As we enter our last month on campus, we're looking for more ways to improve the house and make it the best it's ever been. Moving forward, I want to keep getting brothers involved, finishing our current projects, and start looking toward working on bigger ones like painting and clearing out clutter to create more space. I want to make the house a cleaner, more organized place while building a lasting culture of involvement and a sense of pride in the house. By the time my term is over, I want to know I've made a real impact on Gamma Chapter and its culture, setting my successor up to thrive.
