Page 3 J ohn McCann '91 always wanted to be a in fraternity, and since joining Sigma Phi Epsilon, the Fraternity has been a thread throughout his life. His SigEp brothers are some of his best friends, and his fondest memories are of experiencing the brotherhood while living in the house, whether it was eating together or partaking in "documentary nap time" where they put on The Discovery Channel and took naps. Some of John's brothers worked part-time at a local insurance agency, which introduced him to the insurance world that later became his career. John started a wholesale insurance brokerage firm in 2005, specializing in medical malpractice insurance. He built a wonderful business that has a piece in all 50 states, and in 2022, he sold his firm to the largest privately held insurance broker in the world, HUB. He continues to produce business on behalf of HUB and is working his way to retiring in the next few years. Selling his company has allowed John to invest in other opportunities, and he is now the majority owner of Bowden's at College Town. John met his wife during a SigEp social with Kappa Alpha Theta. "We actually have a T-shirt that commemorates the exact date we met each other." They first became friends and eventually dated and married. His SigEp brothers were in their wedding, and two are godparents to their children. John's oldest son is on the FSU golf team and will soon be graduating. His youngest is a freshman at FSU and recently became a SigEp. "I was able to attend the after-initiation gathering, which was a cool experience for me." In his free time, John enjoys golfing, skiing, and hiking. His family goes to their home in Vail on a regular basis, and he and his wife love going on adventures. "We did the Haute Route trek for my 50th birthday, which is skinning, a form of ski hiking." John enjoys attending away and home football games with his SigEp brothers.
