Our Chapter began in 1923 in the location on Franklin Street that has been our "home" for more than 100 years. The first Epsilon Beta leaders thought it important that a sorority should provide a place of sisterhood, shared experiences, and offer leadership and service opportunities for women on the campus at UNC-Chapel Hill. Our Chi Omega membership today still demonstrates these founding principles. Our Chapter's legacy is something that we can all be proud of … one that nurtures and supports young women to become their best selves. Preparing for the Future With our rich history in mind, we, as alumnae, can help ensure the success of our Chapter on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus for the next 100 years. The restoration project has been complicated and challenging due to the age of the house, but our project team is outstanding, and the restoration is going well. The talented architects, engineers, and contractors have done an incredible job solving many unforeseen problems. Our goal to provide a home that will meet the needs of future generations of Chi O women is going to be a reality. We have now completed more than 50% of the project with a target finish date of August 15, which is when our Chi Omega women will move back into their new home! Campaign Progress We are extremely grateful to the 313 Epsilon Beta donors who have contributed $2,346,080 thus far to this effort. The total project cost is $4.8 million, so we have a significant way to go before completing the campaign. The more we can come together and raise, the less we'll need to rely on loans, reducing the financial burden on the chapter. But with more than 2,500 living alumnae, we know there are many more of you who are willing to help with the renewal of our house. It is our commitment to continue the legacy of the women a century ago who believed in a vision of offering an exceptional experience for women at UNC-Chapel Hill by starting Epsilon Beta Chapter of Chi Omega. We have a history of generosity among our alumnae, especially in our early years with the gifts of the Woollen and Patterson houses, and later the funds to join the two houses adding 14 bedrooms, a commercial kitchen, dining room, and the Guion Johnson living room. Today, our house is located on one of the best properties in Chapel Hill thanks to the vision and generosity of those women who came before us. Dollar-for-Dollar Matching The House Corporation is excited to announce that an anonymous donor is issuing a challenge to all alumnae with a $250,000 dollar-for-dollar matching challenge! If you have yet to contribute or want to extend your generosity, this is an excellent opportunity to double your impact on Chi Omega before the challenge deadline on October 15. This challenge includes one-time gifts, new pledges, and increased pledges. Don't miss out on the opportunity to capitalize on this initiative! Please consider donating to the Century of Sisterhood campaign for the continued success of our beloved Chi Omega House at UNC-Chapel Hill. Your support of this project will help ensure that future Chi Os will have the same opportunities that we enjoyed there—making lifelong friendships while living, studying, and gathering together in our incredible Chi Omega House.
