9 A lpha Nu Chapter of Beta Theta Pi mourns the passing of our beloved Brother Lloyd Lee Kirk '55, who entered the Mystic Shrine on February 13, 2025. His legacy of leadership, kindness, and unwavering dedication to the values of Beta Theta Pi will live on and continue to inspire future generations of brothers. Lloyd's journey began in McCune, Kansas, where he excelled as a scholar and a three-sport athlete. His commitment to excellence continued at the University of Kansas, where he majored in business administration and served as president of Alpha Nu. His leadership and character were recognized with his election to the prestigious Omicron Delta Kappa honor society. Following graduation, Lloyd honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force, navigating B-47 jet bombers during the Cold War. His professional career saw him excel in business, holding leadership roles at IBM, Harding Glass Industries, and Moore Business Forms, where he retired as district manager in 1995. Lloyd's impact on Beta Theta Pi extended far beyond his collegiate years. As General Secretary, he traveled extensively with his wife, Millie, strengthening bonds of brotherhood across the U.S. and Canada. His unwavering commitment was recognized with numerous honors, including Kansas City's Beta "Man of the Year" in 1984 and Beta's highest national distinction, the Francis W. Shepardson Award, in 2016. Beyond Beta, Lloyd was a true servant leader. He dedicated time to Southminster Presbyterian Church, the Optimist Club, the Civil War Round Table, Boy Scouts of America, and Habitat for Humanity. He also volunteered at the National WWI Museum, demonstrating his passion for history and community service. Brother Lloyd leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and integrity. His warmth and wisdom touched all who had the privilege of knowing him. We extend our deepest gratitude for his years of dedication to our brotherhood and send our heartfelt condolences to his family. Remembering Lloyd Lee Kirk '55 Honoring a Life of Dedication and Brotherhood "Wonderful memories of all the times together from our pledging days at the Alpha Nu Chapter of Beta Theta Pi at KU. A good, good person who will be so sorely missed. Warm wishes to his great family." –Don Johnston '56 "Brother Kirk was a true inspiration to me in my involvement in our fraternity. When he was General Secretary, he appointed me as District Chief XXII, with the volunteer oversight for seven years of KU, Kansas State, and my personal chapter of Wichita State University. I learned a lot during that period of time and extended our friendship for several decades. Lloyd was a true gentleman and will be sorely missed." –Larry Dean, Wichita State University '66 Lloyd Lee Kirk '55 with Larry Dean, Wichita State University '66. Memories from Lloyd's Brothers
