2 G rowing up, Aaron Filipi '90 E-1638 heard TKE stories from his father, who was also a member (E-678). When it was time for his recruitment, he liked the house and recruitment chairmen. "As time passed, it became clear my personal values and mindsets totally aligned with the fraternity." Coming in as a shy freshman, Epsilon Chapter had a large impact on Aaron as a young man. "My first day in the house was rough, but that changed over time," he shared. "I became more confident, and I've leveraged that confidence ever since." In TKE, Aaron learned how to socialize, respect others with different beliefs, pursue excellence, establish daily habits, and more, and he has taken these skills into his life and career as a marketing communications consultant. With years of experience under his belt, he has been able to advise clients with more prudence. "I'm acutely aware of how quickly things are changing and how much of what I've learned isn't relevant anymore, which is both exhausting and exciting," he said. In addition to marketing, Aaron is a writer. In 2020 when he was going through a divorce, he started writing short stories about his amateur cooking. "Eventually, I ended up with a short collection of amateur meals and personal insights." This has turned into his new book, One Cook Many Mouths, an Amateur Cookbook for Single Parents (who hate cookbooks). I have three goals with this project: u Publish it (done!) u Help at least one parent cook for their kids (done!) u Sell enough copies to write at least one $1,000 check (from proceeds) to a charity that supports hungry families (not done...yet). Aaron is a proud father of four: Aidan (24), Lucy (21), Jack (19), and Maeve (16). "They inspire me daily to be a better human." In his free time, Aaron loves to be outdoors, especially on the water. He enjoys snow skiing and water skiing. "I run almost daily, but the older I get, the more I walk." While Aaron doesn't remain connected with many TKE brothers, every time he does reconnect, he is reminded of the TKE bond. You can connect with him at aaron.filipi@gmail.com.
