SUPPORTING THE PIKE VISION Shane appreciated the chance to work with these alumni during the chapter house campaign: Rodger Riney '64 Gordon Eubanks '65 Terry Hyatt '65 Larry Ricker '65 Neal Patterson '68 John Michael Williams '68 Richard Forshee '71 Dick Beshear '73 Rich Young '80 Dan Corah, Theta Epsilon '83 Blain Claypool '85 Dennis Packard '93 Ryan Flickinger, Iota Mu '94 Mike Price '96 Nick Johnson '02 Brandon Lux '02 2 | PI KAPPA ALPHA S hane Pate '00 had high expectations for himself when he arrived at Oklahoma State, and he knew a fraternity like Pi Kappa Alpha could help him achieve his goals. His Gamma Chi Chapter experience led to years of fraternal devotion beyond college, and Shane continues his service through a national role with PIKE. FRATERNAL INSPIRATION From accomplished and involved alumni to quality undergraduates in the house, Shane found great pride in joining a brotherhood rooted in traditions. He also recognized his own potential for growth, which compelled Shane to serve as house manager, IMC, and SMC. "Those roles taught me how to set goals for success, take ownership of a project to see it to completion, work with different personalities to motivate them to help the chapter accomplish its goals, and resolve conflicts or obstacles that surface along the way." Through PIKE service, Shane also learned how to analyze and improve upon policies while compelling others to follow them. KEEPING HIS COMMITMENT Shane graduated from OSU and pursued a master's in public administration while serving as a district executive for the Boy Scouts of America. Following graduation from law school, Shane practiced law until 2016, when he started serving in his current role as city manager of Nichols Hills, Oklahoma. Staying true to his fraternal roots, Shane had the honor to become a leader in Gamma Chi's capital campaign for the new chapter house. He recalls alumni having to scale back on renovation plans during his undergraduate years, and Shane was determined to deliver on the dream of alumni who had become close friends of his. "When I became an alumnus, OSU was experiencing an arms race in Greek housing, so the timing was right to do something for Gamma Chi," Shane added. He was grateful for support from John Michael Williams '68 and Richard Forshee '71, and Shane worked on the campaign alongside several supportive alumni. "It required complex property transactions, financing negotiations with lenders, collaboration with architects and contractors, and preparing regular status reports on the project for significant donors." BROTHERHOOD BEYOND OSU Shane's campaign involvement was one of the most rewarding ventures he has personally experienced. It even led to him serving as a PIKE regional president, tasked with managing an alumni volunteer structure to support chapters in Arkansas and Oklahoma. Today, Shane serves as Pi Kappa Alpha's International Real Estate Advisor while being a board member on the White Horse Holding Corporation. His current responsibilities include working with the corporation board to manage PIKE chapter houses nationwide and provide loans to chapters and house corporations for property purchase, renovation, and refinancing purposes. Shane and his wife, Kimberly, love spending time with their young sons, Calvin and Connor. The Pate family enjoys attending OSU and Oklahoma City Thunder games, attending the boys' t-ball games, and family time outdoors. You can connect with Shane at shanepate32@gmail.com. Embracing the Lifelong Fraternity SHANE PATE '00 ON PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT, PIKE SERVICE "Virtually every door, opportunity, and experience that has shaped me as an adult I can attribute to Pi Kappa Alpha."
