e Washington Alpha Delt 2 I hope everyone had an amazing summer and has been enjoying their fall thus far. It has been great to have Husky football back, the turning of the leaves, and another opportunity to start the school year off strong. While it was sad to say goodbye to our Brothers in the 2020 and 2021 pledge classes, we are thrilled they are off to a great start in the professional world. Luckily for us, we have welcomed a new class of pledges who bring a lot to the table. Aer fall quarter, they, as well as the rest of the Chapter, will be under the guidance of our incoming president, Zack ompson '27, and his executive board. INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION Summer was busy as usual here at the house. With almost 100 men and women living in, there was rarely a dull moment. Recruitment was in full swing for the underclassmen, and many of the upperclassmen were involved in summer internships. Later in the summer, Vice President Carson Nakagawara '26 and I flew down to Anaheim, California, to attend the annual International Convention alongside Brothers Michael Derr '84 and Howard Strickler '63. The weekend had a lot to offer in terms of advice for officers and alumni, initiatives for chapters to take, and even a Friday afternoon trip to Disneyland. However, the focus of the weekend was the banquet and award ceremony at the end. Our Chapter was fortunate enough to be nominated for three awards this year: the Andrew Pochter Award for excellence in philanthropy, the Andrew Onderdonk Award for the top Alumni Association, and the E.O Blackman Award, which is given to the most outstanding fraternity. Unfortunately, we were unable to take home the latter two awards but are incredibly proud that our Chapter was honored with the Andrew Pochter Award. Our success with Bubble Bash could not be accomplished without meaningful contributions from all of you. We look forward to continuing strides in philanthropy and in the other areas where we fell short. It would have been great to win all three, but the lessons learned from our shortcomings will go a long way in setting us up for success in the future. FALL QUARTER UPDATES After summer live-in wound down at the start of September, the house began its transition into the school year. With a successful cycle of recruitment behind us, 30 pledges moved into the Temple on September 8. Move-in was quickly followed by the start of Work Week, where our entire Chapter organized each day to deep clean and work on projects. This time around, we were able to finish multiple murals, reseed the front lawn, and paint lines in our backlot, including the usual fall cleaning. The completion of Work Week was shortly followed by the beginning of school and the return of our chef, Jen, to the Temple. Fall has been busy since the get-go, but we have not forgotten to maintain established house traditions. On November 2, we hosted Homecoming and Parent's Weekend. The Chapter was thrilled to host our largest Homecoming yet, and we want to thank all who attended. It was great to see our brotherhood span generations, and we cannot wait to host you all again in the future. Immediately after a successful Homecoming weekend, our Chapter took a trip up north for our annual Vancouver formal. The majority of our Brothers drove up on a Friday to enjoy a vacation away from Seattle and explore the city. Some common activities from the weekend included hiking around Stanley Park, shopping at Granville Island, and even watching a Canucks hockey game. While the weather was not much different from here, Vancouver once again made a great destination for the formal. LOOKING AHEAD With time winding down on my presidency, I can look back on this year with a smile. Our Chapter was able to accomplish many great things in the classroom, in our philanthropic work, and in recruitment. We improved our GPA to a 3.6, raised over $65,000 for Seattle Children's Hospital, and supported the Stanley Stamm Summer Camp. We had our highest number of members attend the auction. With such a large underclassmen body, there have been challenges at times controlling everybody and getting us to march in the same direction. Luckily, the supporting cast of leaders around me has helped strengthen our brotherhood and continue building on the culture that defines this Chapter. The future is bright, and I know that there is a crew of gentlemen waiting at the ready to take the reins and continue us on the path to excellence. Our incoming executive board has all the tools and ambition to take us to the next level, and I cannot wait to see what they accomplish. Wishing you all the best. Xaipe, Griffin Marich '25, President griffinmarich@gmail.com Continuing on the Path of Excellence The 2024 undergraduate executive board on their annual retreat in preparation for fall quarter. A group of Brothers embark on their second- annual hike through The Enchantments in early October.
