A P u b l i c A t i o n o f t h e b e t A t h e t A P i S o c i e t y o f M i n n e S o t A the betA Piper CELEBRATING 135 YEARS OF BETA PI FALL/WINTER 2024 We Appreciate Your Support This Year Dishwasher Project In October, the over 30-year-old, commercial-grade dishwasher in the kitchen permanently stopped working. Led by efforts of alumnus Bob Brunmeier '84, we purchased and installed a new system from Hobart in early November. The total cost to replace the dishwasher is coming in close to $21,000. Heating System As mentioned in prior newsletters, the chapter house's heating pipes throughout most walls and ceilings across the four levels of our building are continuing to decay and leak. The pipes are greater than 100 years old now, and the entire system will need to be replaced. We are starting work to scope this project as well as determine a projected cost and timeline. Financial Status As of late September, the society had about $469,000 in long-term debt. With the expense of the dishwasher project and other building repairs, it is vitally important to get on-time chapter rent payments to the society. Alumni gifts/donations are also a critical component to help us pay for current and future building projects (e.g., repair/replace appliances).
