Iowa alpha Chapter page 5 I owa Alpha Chapter hit the ground running to begin the 2024-25 academic year. As new Brothers settle into the house, the Chapter looks to continue a run of recent successes. GRAND ARCH COUNCIL The year started off well, with Max Simmons '26 and Cooper Chiafos '27 attending Grand Arch Council this summer in Minneapolis. They gained valuable insight from Phi Psis of various Chapters and generations. REFLECTING ON GAC "From GAC, I left with a lot of good ideas to implement within our Chapter. Going to an event like that, it shows that Phi Psi thrives across the country, not just at Iowa. It is also inspiring seeing some Brothers be there for up to 35 different GACs. I think that shows how the Brotherhood stretches far past college." –Max Simmons '26 "I really enjoyed being able to dive deep into what goes on behind the scenes of different Phi Psi Chapters around the country." –Cooper Chiafos '27 KINNICK SCHOLARSHIP Back on Campus, Iowa Alpha hosted the 28th annual Kinnick Scholarship brunch and award reception. The pool of applicants was outstanding, and the 15 finalists exemplified the character the scholarship aims to carry on through Nile Kinnick's legacy; they were awarded a total of $15,000. Everyone was treated to remarks from Professor David Hensley, Michael Doty '13, and University President Barbara Wilson, who spoke at Hancher Auditorium. The brunch was a success and a wonderful opportunity for undergraduates to connect with alumni. RECENT ACTIVITY Undergraduates have continued to develop personally, professionally, and philanthropically. Several Brothers recently joined professional business fraternities, and two more have begun their work in the Hawkinson Institute of Business Finance. Brothers also joined an array of other career, service, and social clubs, and have taken up leadership positions around Iowa City, helping Iowa Alpha leave a lasting impact on campus and the surrounding community. Within the Chapter, a fresh executive team has found their footing and continues to learn what it means to be Phi Psi leaders. After another successful round of recruitment, Iowa Alpha welcomed 47 new members. We are excited to see what these young men will bring to the Chapter! Iowa Alpha members continue to live out the values exemplified by leaders before us, and we are hopeful for the coming year. Live Ever, Die Never!
