MissouriAlpha • 2 • TheSigEpTigerHeart "We're just a mist, seen for a while, then dispersing." T here are so many great quotes from our ritual, and this one came to mind as I read Ed and Mason's page 1 account of their four decades of annual Missouri Alpha campouts. I'm grateful that I've enjoyed a few of those myself. Instead of my typical calls to action (time, talent, and treasure), I simply ask each of you to reach out to a brother this holiday season, get together, and enjoy some memories. Get out and enjoy your brothers and loved ones! Speaking of brotherhood, a few updates for you: Our Alumni and Volunteer Corporation has added some great talent: Steve White '91, Steve Droppelman '93, Scott Jones '95, Andy Hinkamp '24, Zach Lovelace '24, and Sam Provencher '24. A big thank-you to Greg Raeman '91 and Mason Laster '84, who are stepping down from their outstanding runs as AVC vice president and secretary, respectively. And a hearty welcome to Dave LaRusso '76 and Greg Pierson '23, who are taking on those roles. Dave LaRusso knows a few things about Missouri Alpha, as he recently received SigEp's exclusive Distinguished Alumni Award for "outstanding service to the fraternity for over (way over) 10 years." Shoutout also to my old roommate and our treasurer, Mark Schordock '84, for taking home our region's Volunteer of the Year award; much deserved, I assure you. Congrats, brothers! Shoutout to Dave Matter '00, longtime sportswriter for the St. Louis Post, author of three books, and now MU's associate athletic director. Dave's recent keynote speech at our chapter's Balanced Leader Scholarship luncheon was a moving account of his four years at 405 Kentucky. Also, congrats to Andy Hinkamp '24, who was named a graduate assistant in MU's Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life and Wellness Resource Center. On a somber note, we have many brothers with homes on the Gulf Coast of Florida and throughout the Southeast who were appreciably impacted by two recent hurricanes. My prayers are with them and everyone who is working to recover from those events. I'd love to hear from you with news and pictures for future issues of SigEp Tiger Heart! Fraternally, Adam Baer '85 AVC President abaer@hme.com M O R E A L U M N I N E W S What's Happening with Missouri Alpha Alumni? Tailgating at 405. A Missouri Alpha throwback to 1967! Pictured: Jim Judd '70, Jerry Caesar '69, Cordes Potter '68, Brad Burton '69, and Keith Suchman '69. Vern Smith '73 presides over last year's Elks Club Bash in St. Louis, raising money for your favorite chapter while reconnecting with brothers, old and new. Mark your calendars for the third annual event on January 11, 2025. Ron Lang '77, Tom Ruck '76, Bill Uthoff '76, and old pal Marty take on some fluids before the Vandy game. Thank you, Joe Brandel '92, for pulling together the second annual Missouri Alpha golf tourney and auction. We all won!
