THE TOMAHAWK 5 Theta Chi at ISU Our annual Alumni Weekend, held this year on August 30 and September 1, was enjoyed by nearly 140 brothers and their guests. The weather was a tad warm but otherwise perfect. Friday's golf had a record number of participants—thank you, Brian Deets '01 and Zach Stuart '17, for your organizational efforts. On Saturday, the Cyclone football team dazzled us with a terrific 21-3 victory over North Dakota. Throughout the weekend, alumni brothers and guests toured our new chapter house renovations, including during a reception on Sunday morning. Alumni brothers enjoy our tailgate festivities. A s an undergraduate at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, Yahaira Garcia Trejo was compelled to join Alpha Chi Omega and be a part of something greater than herself. Her graduate studies at Iowa State University have led to her reengaging with Greek life as Alpha Mu Chapter's graduate student advisor. PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT "Alpha Chi Omega was pivotal in shaping me into a leader," Yahaira said. The sisterhood helped her grow as a responsible adult while building bonds with members and serving the community. As a member of Kappa Rho Chapter, Yahaira also had the chance to serve as recruitment director of Panhellenic. "It sharpened my emotional intelligence and taught me how to be a Real. Strong. Woman." After obtaining her bachelor's degree in history at UNC-Charlotte, Yahaira's academic pursuit brought her to ISU, where it felt natural to get involved with the Greek system. The opportunity to serve Theta Chi as a graduate student advisor presents the chance to share her passion for Greek life and promote benefits like a built-in support system, leadership opportunities, and longstanding connections. FRATERNAL SUPPORT "I'll use my experience as an undergraduate in leadership roles to help navigate chapter and personal academic obstacles," she added. In this position, Yahaira aims to guide the brothers and ensure they have the tools to succeed in academic and personal ventures while developing as leaders. Yahaira believes in fostering a supportive environment like she had as an undergraduate, and she wants Theta Chi brothers to have proper guidance for time management and balancing priorities while utilizing resources for academic success. "The most exciting part is seeing the growth in these young men. Watching them take on college and fraternity life is incredibly rewarding. In addition to this, getting to know them and make the chapter house a home away from home is very exciting!" Greek Guidance Greek Guidance MEET YAHAIRA GARCIA TREJO, GRADUATE STUDENT ADVISOR ANOTHER EXCELLENT ALUMNI WEEKEND You can connect with Yahaira at yahairatrejo004@gmail.com "Greek life shaped who I am today, and being in this student advisor role is a way for me to give back to that same community."
