Cole with Mike Barkann '82.
O
ver the years, DU
collegians have had some
amazing experiences through
internship programs. Cole was
part of the Philadelphia Phillies
broadcast team this past summer,
where he spent time with sports
media legend and DUSU brother
Mike Barkann '82.
Cole was interviewed in the
booth by another Philadelphia
sports hero, John Kruk, and
longtime announcer Tom
McCarthy. Watch the broadcast
at tinyurl.com/ColeWPhillies.
Well done, Cole.
F
or the 2024-25
academic year, the
Dikaia Foundation has
selected William Broad
'26 as the next Dikaia
Scholar. He received the
recommendation from
former Dikaia Scholar
Cole Weintraub '25 and
the Executive Board. The
Dikaia Scholar was created in 2019 to represent
Dikaia and support Dikaia's Grants and Awards
Committee, led by Ken Hyman '88.
Will is a junior from McLean, Virginia,
majoring in broadcast and digital journalism.
Since his initiation, Will has been heavily
involved with the chapter, serving as the
alumni and family relations chairman as well as
recruitment chairman last spring.
"I'm thrilled and honored to be taking on this
role to represent Syracuse Chapter," said Will.
"I watched Cole do a tremendous job last year
and know I am capable of this task; I can't wait
to get involved with the alumni and continue to
build a bond between them and the students"
The Dikaia Awards application portal opens
on December 1 and closes on December 31,
2024. All applicants must fulfill their housing
commitment to be considered for a Dikaia Award.
"Will Broad was the clear candidate for this
role," Chapter President Zach Weiss '26 said.
"His dedication to the house will push him to
succeed in yet another leadership position for
this brotherhood. I have no doubt this year's
Dikaia Awards are in good hands."
Will has already started working on the
upcoming application process along with Dikaia
President Kevin Stein '83, who stated, "We
encourage active members of the chapter to
reach out to Will with questions and apply early
for scholarships, which fulfill Dikaia's mission
to aid, encourage, and promote the education
and general well-being of members of the Delta
Upsilon Fraternity at Syracuse University."
The annual Dikaia Awards Ceremony is
scheduled for Saturday, February 22, 2025,
on the Syracuse University campus. All
family, friends, and alumni are invited and
strongly encouraged to attend in person. If you
cannot attend in person, you can join us via
Zoom. Event details will follow.

and the scholarship application, please visit
