The Glazebrook Gazette B lake Moret '81 originally joined Alpha Tau Omega for the opportunity to create friendships at Georgia Tech beyond the group he knew from high school. After becoming a member, he soon noticed deep levels of camaraderie in the chapter. "We had a lot of common interests, but also a strong desire to maintain a tightly knit brotherhood across differences," he said. Some of Blake's favorite memories from the chapter house include getting the house ready for recruitment in the late summer before classes started. "I also enjoyed the Hawaiian Party and the hard work leading up to those memorable weekends." Blake graduated in 1985 with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. "My program included exposure to a lot of different manufacturing processes, which is where I've spent my career," he shared. "I thought my first job was going to be in the field of advanced energy systems. That didn't happen, but after all these years, my company is now involved in some significant solar, wind, and carbon capture projects." Blake continues to take an interest in the fraternity's success and is proud to have recently donated to the campaign. "Alpha Tau Omega brought together college students from a range of backgrounds who almost certainly would not have become lifelong friends without the brotherhood," he said. "That's a pretty powerful concept, and one I hope endures." The motivation to stay engaged and active is different for every brother. For Blake, it's about maintaining strong connections. "As brothers, we share a bond that began when we were in our late teens," he explained. "That bond continues through all our different careers and moves, and it's still there as our kids move into adulthood and our careers wind down. It's worth preserving for me individually, and it's worth preserving for future generations of ATΩs. That's why I stay engaged and also why I contribute to the fraternity." Blake lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which is the headquarters for Rockwell, the company he's worked for his entire career. "Our four adult children live on the coasts and in Colorado, so my wife and I have fun places to visit!" In his free time, Blake enjoys cycling, hiking, and spending time on and around Lake Michigan. If you'd like to reconnect with him, you can send an email to bdmoret@ra.rockwell.com. "ATΩ taught me to make connections with a wide range of characters—a skill that has been important throughout my life."
