Developing Leaders for the Future and Sisters for Life! Fall 2024 From Your Delta Sigma House Board at Oklahoma State Delta Sigma Thrives! I f you haven't been on campus for a while, the Greek community looks much different than when you last saw it! Right now, eight sororities and nine fraternities are in the process of or have already completed rebuilding larger, more modern houses. Others have done major renovations. Here's a quick overview: REBUILDS • Completed: ADPi, AOPi, ChiO • Completed by January 2025: Pi Phi • In progress: Zetas, DDD, Theta, and Phi Mu RENOVATIONS • GPhi, KD, and AXO Your Kappa House Board has formed a Capital Improvement Committee, and three architects have toured our house. All of them recommended we NOT tear down the chapter house, as it is in great structural condition. The committee is working with KSQ architects on plans for a major renovation, and we are including input from actives, advisors, and other alumnae. We will keep you updated! H appy October, Delta Sigma sisters! Our history continues to move forward as our chapter thrives as a top house at Oklahoma State. I want to share some fun tidbits with you that have occurred since our last newsletter was published. A huge congratulations is in order as Delta Sigma's spring GPA was 3.57—only .06 from first place and well-above the all-sorority average set by Panhellenic! Page 2 includes an article from our chapter president recapping the awards we received for our members' work ethic and determination. Aside from all the honors and awards, the House Board continues to hear about the character and high integrity of our undergraduates, which makes us so proud and deserves a big round of Kappa Snaps! This year a record 965 young women went through recruitment. Our quota was 57 and we pledged 58. Interestingly, 30 members (52%) are from out of state: 20 are from Texas and others are from Missouri, Arkansas, Nebraska, Kansas, and California! Of the other 28, 12 are from rural Oklahoma. The House Board is grateful for House Director Robin Terronez and the fabulous job she does overseeing the house and keeping it in tip- top condition. She continues to impress us with her commitment to the chapter women in so many ways, including creative, themed formal dinners, house orientation for all live-in members, and etiquette lessons. Remember, salt and pepper shakers are a couple and always travel in pairs! Our members are truly blessed to have such a thoughtful house mom. In addition to the yearly scheduled maintenance in the summer, we approved multiple projects that were completed before the members returned in August, including repairs throughout the house, new paint on the stairwells, the restriping of the parking lot, and additional landscaping. This year we are bringing back the tradition of having an Open House on Homecoming Day, Saturday, November 2 from 1-5 p.m.. You can stay updated with all things OSU Kappa on our Facebook page, Oklahoma State Kappa Alums, and our Instagram, @okstatekkgalums. Some exciting news to share with all of you: Our newly elected Fraternity President, Elizabeth Bailey, is coming for a fun, casual visit November 9-10. On November 10 from 1-3 p.m. at the Student Union, she'll be doing a "Kappa State of the Union Address and Q&A," and you are invited! We are so honored that she has selected Delta Sigma as one of her destinations in the Midwest! The House Board is expecting a phenomenal year for our chapter, and one of our priorities will be to finalize plans for a major renovation in 2026. We will keep you updated as we move forward and bring our vision to life! Loyally, Laura Castleberry '80 House Board President lcastleberry4@gmail.com OSU Sorority Update
