KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY page 3 "This scholarship is vital for us to be able to attend Convention and not be financially burdened. We really appreciate everything you all do for us and hope you will continue to support us! Convention was really enjoyable, and I met a lot of brothers from across the country." –Liam Nichols '27 A s an undergraduate, Matt Killingsworth '02 understood the impact of providing scholarships and leadership support for the chapter through the Kansas State Delta Chi Foundation. As an alumnus, he's contributing to that support with the Killingsworth Grant. "The idea of establishing the leadership scholarship in memory of my father, C.C. Killingsworth, who died in the line of duty as a firefighter in Wichita, seemed like an appropriate way to memorialize him and model the way for future generations to support Delta Chi at K-State." After attending the 1998 RLC and International Convention, Matt realized the true scope and strength of Delta Chi, and it became a passion of his. He noted the biggest limiting factor for Delta Chi brothers attending Convention was the cost, which the grant has supported for more than two decades. "If I could help underwrite that cost and allow more young men to experience Delta Chi on an international scale, hopefully they could then take that experience back to Manhattan, share those skills learned from workshops, and encourage others to attend to grow their knowledge of the fraternity and learn powerful personal leadership skills." Matt remembers what it was like as a college student—having limited funds and missing out on some opportunities—and he doesn't want future brothers to miss a chance to attend events like Convention because of the cost. "The same goes for scholarships—not only do we want to recognize the excellence that Delta Chi is known for, but I'd hate to lose a great brother because his dad lost his job. While it's easy to say, 'That's life,' and move on, that impacts that young man's future. If I can do a little bit to help him have a meaningful college experience and make friends who will stand with him on his wedding day (like three did on mine: Aaron Otto '98, Bryan Wagner '99, and Cory Lafferty '02), then that's what my oath calls me to do."
