W e are living the charmed life at the 808 with a new member class of 102 women. We are lucky that our founders had the vision to organize a women's society that would promote lifelong commitment, intellectual and personal growth, and service to humanity. Summer Events In June 2024, Gamma Phi Beta chapters celebrated 150 years of sisterhood at the 81st Convention in Chicago. It was an empowering week filled with sisters across generations celebrating our true and constant sisterhood while conducting sorority business and creating lasting memories. This summer also included the passing of the presidency torch on the Affiliated House Corporation (AHC) Board. Cindy Gates Wood '77 retired after 20 years of service to Alpha Delta. I am honored to follow in her footsteps. We are lucky that Cindy is not done with her volunteer service with the chapter. She has taken on a new role as ritual advisor, and the Ritual Closet has been named in her honor. Cindy will teach chapter rituals such as formal meetings and initiation. COVID forced initiations and chapter meetings to be virtual for two years, which left members a little rusty. The women are excited to learn from Cindy and tap into her vast knowledge. If you are interested in helping, reach out to Cindy at cwood@kcmicro.com. We also had a charming new house addition this summer—permanent, architectural outdoor lighting. The main and the front porch rooflines are enhanced with permanent, color-changing LED lighting. The lights were pink with a bit of white during recruitment, will be all white for initiation, and will be black and gold on football game days! Reach out to McKenzie Veselic '12 at chapteradvisor.mizzougphi@gmail.com if you want to get involved with the Chapter Advisory Board or serve as a professional mentor. McKenzie can-share which positions are open. Some positions can also be filled remotely! • You can also support the chapter monetarily by giving to the ongoing building fund, which is used to make home improvements. The one-time building fund fee new members pay is not always enough to cover necessary improvements that arise. While we have a new house, there are ongoing updates needed to keep the house well-maintained and up to date. Give today by visiting donate.gammaphibeta. org/alphadelta808. It is fun to select key Gamma Phi Beta dates for your giving date, such as the anniversary of Alpha Delta Chapter (May 20, 1921), the anniversary of your initiation, or the anniversary of Gamma Phi Beta (November 11, 1874). Any amount helps, one-time or ongoing. I look forward to serving Gamma Phi Beta for the next two years as AHC president. Gamma Phi Beta has been my lucky charm since 1990!
